Patriot Killa
https://nypost.com/2018/02/02/former-long-time-jet-not-closing-the-door-on-playing-career/amp/ BLOOMINGTON, Minn. — Former Jets center Nick Mangold did not play in 2017. He’s not sure about 2018. The Jets cut Mangold last February after 11 years with the team. His 2016 season ended after a foot injury that continued to bother him last year. “I don’t know yet,” Mangold said about his future. “I’m feeling better. I’m getting better. I’m not closing the door, but I’m not actively searching anything out.” Mangold, who is at the Super Bowl promoting Bernzomatic torches, said he received calls from teams last year during training camp, but did not feel healthy enough to play. “It still wasn’t right,” Mangold said. “It was one of those things where I probably could have gone out there and played, but I wouldn’t be playing to my standards. I wouldn’t want to be out there just stealing checks. That’s why I didn’t go for it. I wouldn’t have played at my level.” Mangold, 34, said it was strange watching football this past year, but he enjoyed being able to spend August at home with his family instead of at training camp. Mangold was upset the Jets cut him without even approaching him about a pay cut, but it sounds like those hurt feelings are starting to go away. “It’s difficult because my son would be a 7-year-old diehard Jets fan. He’s running around yelling ‘Jets, Jets, Jets,’ ” Mangold said. “It took some time. I’m kind of indifferent now. Hopefully as time goes on, I get back to being fully invested in what’s going on.”
southparkcpa
I thought this was gonna be about Cromartie needing to play since he has child support due. Last 10 years... Mangold is the best JET on the field day in day out.

BurnleyJet
Loved Nick, but players need to know it's time. He's 34 been struggling, he's made enough money walk way it's his health that matters now.

TnT
Pass, let’s move on...I don’t want to see Mangold riding the bench if he’s taken a step back (which is most likely). I want to get younger and better, not older and questionable. No No No

Mangold makes us proud he was drafted and stayed a Jet the entire time. Revis played mercenary and went to NE.
Mo Lew
This is a no brainer to me. If his foot is better resign him for 2 year vet minimum deal and draft a C in mid rounds for him to groom. Everyone wants younger younger younger at every position and I get it but winners have a good mix.

Warfish
A healthy Mangold is instantly 100% better and a massive upgrade over Johnson. If indeed he is healthy, signing him on the cheap could give the Jets a boost of veteran leadership, and a way to defer the cost of a new, long term, Center for a year. Allowing us to fix the REST of the O-line this year first. Low cost, high reward, and if it doesn't pan out, so be it, He's an all-time Jet great, all time franchise greats who were loyal and good people and represented us well deserve last chance shots IMO. Better to give him a shot than some ex-Patriot or 7th round draft pick tossoff of the like. Better for him to finish out a lifelong Jet than a Brown or a Cardinal or suchlike. Even hurt last year I bet Mangold would have been vastly better than Johnson, and I tried to tell folks that then but no one was having it. They know better now. Cheap Vet deal, 2 years, no guaranteed money. Make it happen. Be assured, Cousins (or Mayfield) will feel far more secure behind an old Warhorse future HOF'er like Mangold than behind a guy named Westley.
