Who Would You Take with 1st Overall Pick?

  1. 1. If the JETS were to trade and acquire the #1 overall pick in the draft, who would you select?

Yes, I am only giving 2 options because IMO there are only 2 QB's you trade up for.... Because I am curious to see what the thought is assuming Mac does not sign Cousins.

Also I don't think there is a wrong choice here....

I voted Rosen because he's my favorite QB from a pure talent standpoint but you'd have to vet the sh*t out of him before pulling the trigger.  Darnold seems like a much safer pick from a character standpoint but Rosen is silky smooth and I think a much better QB than Darnold.

Rosen. Cleanest mechanics. Cleanest throwing motion. Great touch. Great accuracy.

Matt Ryan is my comparison.

He has a better arm than Ryan, IMO. but that is a decent comp.

I think Darnold.

Rosen is the more pure polished product and if he stays healthy and is motivated to play football long term I think he has a higher floor. This obviously makes him attractive... Barring injury or early retirement I think he has a low chance of busting. But I don't think his ceiling is as high. His attitude and demeanor don't strike me as that of a winner. I think he's the kind of guy who compiles good stats and makes a few Pro Bowls but never really wins anything.

Darnold could bust but I think his ceiling is higher with the right coaching... He'll always turn the ball over a little but I think he just has natural instincts and playmaking ability that you can't really teach. Higher bust potential but I'd roll the dice on the guy I think has a better chance to be a superstar.

Honestly? Yeah, not with Bowles. But I think there's a good chance Bowles isn't here in 2019.

Darnold just strikes me as a guy where he'd be a stud with a team like the Eagles or Chiefs and suck with a team like the Browns... Or Jets. But hopefully we can change those fortunes.

sh*t poll without a "neither/other" option.

Because I wouldn't draft either of these hyped up kids at #1 overall, because I do not believe either will ever play up to that level of value.

I would trade down, accumulate picks, do what it took to sign Cousins, and draft a Falk in the later rounds (along with a new RB and a gaggle of new O-Linemen studs).

I get it, but thats not your option. lol. If you wouldn't select either then don't select either.

Good comp.

For me, Rosen reminds me of Jay Cutler.  Talented arm, confident (Some may say arrogant), sometimes fiery but otherwise mostly really relaxed.

Darnold reminds me of a slightly more athletic Philip Rivers.  Long throwing motion, but good timing and anticipation.

Both could be something special.

I can understand wanting rosen over darnold but this whole past QBs or other positions from certain schools angle rankles me.  That should be a non factor in player evaluation imo.

not many from ucla either. but you are right.  seems like the usc guys are glamour boys and almost take a step down from the party life when they enter the nfl.

So you're suggesting that if Aaron Rodgers had gotten a scholarship to USC, instead of Cal, he wouldn't be a good QB today because Matt Leinart/Sanchez were busts?

This whole, "let's avoid player X" because he went to a school where other players were busts is foolish.

Let's look at all those great QBs from UCLA. You have Aikman...Great. Then you have Brett Hundley/Tommy Maddox/Cade McNown/Drew Olson/Corey Paus. Am I supposed to  believe that Rosen's chace for success is in any way tied to the fact that he went to the same school as Troy Aikman?

There really isn't a wrong choice between the two QB's but Mac needs to stay away from signing Cousins who will wreck the Jets salary cap for years while being what he always has been...a guy who puts up impressive numbers but not many wins. Tony Romo clone.

Rosen for me -- but I need to see his medical rap sheet. I'm not worried about him getting injured moving forward, but i would like to make sure there's no serious long term damage already. That aside, yea, Rosen is the best pure QB prospect since Luck/Manning.
