By far the best move they have made so far. The clock is ticking even louder for Hue(1-31) Jackson.

My guess is this means that the Browns stray even further from getting Cousins rather than making it more likely.

Scot already doesn’t think Cousins is ‘special’ enough for the money he is wanting.

and he's right.

Damn!  I really wanted this guy for the Jets (even though I know it was unrealistic).  I know he can't be a GM because of his alcoholism but he's probably still a great scout.  Let's keep in mind he drafted Scherff over Leonard Williams.  That could mean he'll take that guard Nelson with Cleveland's 2nd 1st round pick (I think #4 overall).

I hear what you're saying but he's not the final decision maker..He can recommend but it's still Dorsey's call.

The extreme makeover of the Cleveland Browns' scouting department continued Saturday when former Redskins general manager Scot McCloughan joined the organization as a personnel consultant to assist the team in this year's draft, according to league sources.

McCloughan, universally recognized as one of the league's top talent evaluators, agreed to reunite with new Browns general manager John Dorsey for the '18 draft and participated in meetings Saturday with the team's full scouting department, sources said.

The Browns have 12 picks in the '18 draft, which includes the No. 1 and No. 4 overall choices and five picks in the first two rounds.

Prior to joining the Browns, McCloughan openly praised Oklahoma quarterback Baker Mayfield as the QB he would favor if he were choosing one for this draft. However, team sources say there is no clear favorite if the team decides to use the top pick on a quarterback, as expected, and Dorsey will lead an extensive evaluation process on several of the top candidates.

McCloughan and Dorsey once served together under Hall of Fame Packers general manager Ron Wolf. McCloughan has twice served as a GM -- with the 49ers and the Redskins -- until he was unceremoniously fired by Washington in March 2017. McCloughan filed a grievance against the Redskins, who fired him "with cause" and the outcome is pending.

McCloughan formed an independent scouting agency shortly thereafter, but Dorsey recruited him with the permission of owner Jimmy Haslam after Dorsey was named the Browns' new GM in December.

Dorsey also joins other Browns recent personnel hires such as Alonzo Highsmith and Elliott Wolf, son of Ron Wolf, when they were passed over in a recent Packers' front office shake-up.

Browns have quadrupled-down on good personnel guys.

**** Charlie Casserly.

This Is the approach i thought the Jets should take.  This draft and FA are too important for the Jets, and Mac has been too unimpressive to date to be given all that money and all of those draft picks without any help or another set of eyes.

We also thought a Jaguars-like approach would be helpful for the Jets.

The Johnsons are clearly deer in the headlights as they stick with their original Casserly-fed mediocre plan.

And speaking of the Redskins, any thought of the Redskins tagging Cousins is likely driven by the Redskins thinking they could fleece a desperate MacBowles trying to save their jobs.  They must think that they could unload Cousins quickly to the Jets for some type of compensation.

More likely the Broncos and Elway, who has managed to turn a Super Bowl winning team from two years ago into the #5 pick in the draft, all by himself.

Browns Allen

Giants Darnold

.....?

I would hope we trade up if this be the case. Broncos think Rosen has the purest stroke in the draft class and are reportedly feeling like if he makes it to 5 there is no question about it. That’s where he’ll go. But if Denver does get Cousins which is my gut feeling...we are going to end up with a good QB prospect.

I think they take Rosen regardless of his opinion.

Yeah that's what I mean. I like Baker a lot but if they want to shake up the draft board by taking him at # 1 I am all for that. Maybe Allen will go # 2.

Jets can take Darnold when they pick lol.
