I called for Foles instead of Fitzpatrick

We had a chance to pick up Foles when he was cut before the 2016 season for just 1.8 million. I said it then, I called Sirius NFL radio & said it to  Jim Miller, why don't the Jets sign Foles, he replied," Fitz is a much better fit for the Jets than Nick Foles", lol.

Put a good Oline in front of a decent QB & you can have success in this new NFL. Get Cousins, sign Jensen, draft Nelson. Let's get this part started!

In Foles case, put him in an offensive system he is used to. Only give teams 4 game film samples of his play in the RPO based scheme, give him Ashlon Jeffery, Nelson Agalor, Trey Burton, Zach Ertz, LaGarrette Blount and Jay Ajayi, Lane Johnson and a Defense that can straight up ball so you can battle back easier and yep..i’d say Foles would be pretty nice to have.

The Eagles defense played terrible last night. The Patriots didn't even punt, did they? They made the play they needed but they were far from good, my god Brady broke the NFL record with 505 yards.

The Eagles secondary played bad. The Eagles defense as a whole really didn’t play that bad. If not for Brandon Graham forced fumble...we probably have a different outcome last night and that’s just the truth. NE had 1 time out with a little over 2 minutes left on the clock. That fumble changed everything.

Doesn't matter!! Foles would've been the same piece of sh*t Fitz was on our team.. Did you see the game Peterson called yesterday? We have nobody close to being able to do that or put a QB in a spot to be elite.

Both of these

I asked for Files as well. BUT I wanted to draft a QB with signing him or within a season after>... our coaches would not have used him the same as Peterson. You realize that Peterson called plays from the "Chip Kelly - 2013" offense that Foles played so well in. No way Bowles would have thought to go back and call plays that a guy executes well from past seasons under a different Coach.

Both defenses were torched. It was like the Jets Chiefs game. But like the Jets, the Eagles made the key defensive stop.

The sad part is .. Todd Bowles wouldn’t have even been scheming for the QB or Offensive plays and that’s just the truth. He has to rely on someone else to figure that out so he can focus on the Defense that also underwhelms. Nothing will change for us under this clown.

I would still be rocking the "Fire Bowles" Profile pic, but I can wait until September.... lol

And hopefully next time we get a guy who can actually coach the offensive side.

Vikings HC was offensive

Eagles HC was offensive

Saints HC was offensive

Chiefs HC was offensive

Titans HC was offensive

Playoff teams get good offensive coaches and let a good DC run that side of the ball. It’s the way the game is played now. We need to get with the times.

Herm, Rex, Bowles, Parcells, Mangini and even Pete Caroll

ENOUGH IS ENOUGH.

Zimmer was DC... but I get your point, watching the SB it is clear that teams need a solid D, but offense is king right now.

Just stop.  Foles has been less-than-JAG quality in every single place he's been OTHER than Philadelphia.

He was the right QB, in the right role (backup), at the right time for the Eagles system.  There is no evidence of any kind he's have been a good #1 anywhere else, and plenty of evidence he wouldn't be.

I'm very happy for him, but the amount of Jets Fan churning over either not having signed him, or that we should now trade for him, is already reaching parody levels.

I never once said to SIGN HIM NOW. What I said was, and ANYONE can go back into the time frame when Foles was released (it was DURING the Fitz "holdout"), that we should just grab Foles for 1.8 million & see what happens. I stated that Fitz was NO BETTER than Foles and to pay Fitz 13 million more was stupid! Even than I never said he could be our answer, I just thought resigning Fitz was asinine & it did turn out that way. Oh, and by the way, the Eagles defense SUCKED last night, if not for Foles making plays the Eagles lose that game. Give him the credit he deserves & you have zero idea how he would have faired with the Jets. Obviously the Eagles have a much better line, but I think Foles has proven, he's just a better QB than Fitz.

With our CS it would not matter who we had at QB, and Foles surely would not have played as well as he did under Pederson.

It’s all about the coaching with these mediocre QBs

it's about coaching with all of them.  foles showed some great accuracy and the confidence in himself and his receiver to make the play.  i don't know if one can teach accuracy.

Yes, and I remember the backlash of even the thought of it. Typical Jets, they can't even find a QB (amazing that they ignore this position).

What was funny about that time period is that Fitz was holding out & Foles got released. Right after Foles got released Fitz showed up & signed the contract. It definitely played a part & his agent probably told him the Jets might inquire about Foles.

So Jetsy the way these things turn out for this organization.

The defense didn't play bad?  If they didn't make the one play that they made they might have lost the game!  They gave up 500 yards passing, 3 receivers had over 100 yards.  They gave up another 100+ and a TD rushing.  The Pats didn't punt the entire game .  Are we crediting them for the missed FG?  Prior to the strip sack, they had given up 75 yard TD drives on every possession in the 2nd half.

If defense wins championships, there is no champion.

so five out of the twelve playoff teams have an offensive coach and that's an endorsement?  i don't think so. historically it probably leans toward defensive coaches.  it matters who the coach more than if he's from the defensive or offensive side.  i get your point as it applies to the jets and their issue is more that they've used their high draft picks mostly on defense for quite some time.

both defenses were sieves.  brady was the goat for missing that option pass and then getting strip sacked.  to his credit he certainly put some scare in the eagles on that last drive though.

They pressured him well and their defense made the most important play of the game. The secondary was disgustingly bad. I didn’t dispute that. What did they do on the ground?

1 sack. 113 on 22 carries with a TD on the ground.  That's over 5 ypc.  If they were selling out to stop the run, their plan was not only woefully misguided, but unsuccessful.  It was the most important play of the game because it was the only play of the game.

I mean it’s the Patriots, of course you aren’t going to get too many sacks. But they pressured him well is what I’m saying.

ABSOLUTELY, I don't know how to look at threads from that period of time but I guarantee you I posted about signing Foles while Fitz held out as soon as he was released.

Well Bowles, and Gailey instead of Marrone, and possibly Schwartz equaled sh*tzpatrick, and the sh*t storm the Jets are in now.  No matter which QB they bring in here this team will not win under Bowles, and whether it be Cousins, Foles, Darnold, Rosen, Allen, Jackson, god help me Mayfield they wil most likely be learning a new offense in the 2019 season, hopefully it’s just a different version of the West Coast Offense so the verbiage is the same so the transition won’t be to difficult.  Maybe it’s Schwartz as HC, and he either holds onto the offensive staff because the Jets go 4-12 with a 15th ranked offense that is still bare in talent, and 28th on defense that has 18 1st and 2nd rounders, and high priced Veteran Free Agents that the clueless supposed defensive guru couldn’t get to play.  In comes Schwartz doing what Schwartz does churns out top ranked defenses, allows the GM to go get more offensive talent, and then maybe just maybe 2019 could be interesting (unless it’s Mayfield at Center then we’re screwed regardless).
