The Jets have opened talks with free agent CB Morris Claiborne.

Claiborne managed to stay healthy last season, playing in 15 games for the first time since his rookie year. Easily the Jets’ best corner, Claiborne should be a priority re-sign. New York has also shown interest in bringing back free agent LB Demario Davis.

ESPN New York confirms the Jets are working to re-sign free agent TE Austin Seferian-Jenkins.

Seferian-Jenkins recently changed agents, so there hasn't been much progress in contract talks. After a strong start, ASJ faded down the stretch last year but 2017 was still a step forward for him. The Jets should try to keep Seferian-Jenkins on a short-term deal.

I think that would be a good start inhouse.  I wouldnt cry to lose ASJ...but Clairborne and Davis would be good to resign.  I'd like to see Ealy brought back as well, probably more than those 2. Especially with Mo getting cut.  David Bass maybe too.  He seemed to give some good snaps when give the chance.

Davis should be their top priority in re-sigining.  While he will certainly cost more than he did this past year, I can't imagine his price tag is going to be too absurd, and he was easily one of the Jets top players this season.  Claiborne would definitely be a good option at the right price, but while he had a (relatively) healthy year, it would be a risk if it's too big of a commitment, particularly with guarantees.

ASJ is better than the other TEs the Jets have had for years, but he's still not all that great.  Even if he's brought back, the Jets should be bringing in other competition at the position as well, as he certainly didn't do enough to deserve being handed anything.  If it's true that he has already turned down a previous offer from the Jets that was for low-end starter money, and the new agent similarly looks for even more than that, the Jets should let him hit the market and shop around in FA.  They could still continue to consider him as an option at that point, but he hasn't done nearly enough to deserve serious commitment over all other options.

Agreed. People don’t even realize Demario Davis had 136 tackles this year. He was BIG for stopping plays over the middle.
