Macc has to do better than this! Lol

Big difference picking @ 6 instead of 18. Much better positioning to turn things around & much better YOUNGER free agents available in positions of need for the Jets in 2018. This is why I'm somewhat optimistic. Quincy Enunwa in the 6th & a below Jag Dozier, wow, this draft really set the Jets back!

Round Pick Player Position College Notes
1 18 Calvin Pryor  S Louisville
2 49 Jace Amaro  TE Texas Tech
3 80 Dexter McDougle  CB Maryland
4 104 Jalen Saunders  WR Oklahoma Pick from TB
4 115 Shaquelle Evans  WR UCLA
4 137 Dakota Dozier  OT Furman Compensatory
5 154 Jeremiah George  LB

What’s funny/awful is that they all hit most of the markers in terms of size, athleticism, production, etc, but they were all head cases who didn’t seem to like football very much. Weird.

Yeah that's f'n terrible. And if you wanna know why I can't blame Mac for going BAP regardless of position is because look at the draft history before he got here. 2011-2014 and there's barely any players left.

People wanna complain "another pick for the defense!" , and it would be reasonable if other picks were still on the team playing well. But they're not. They're out of the league.

It's going slow, but at least Mac is filling out the roster with competent players. Just needs to keep going, but in the next 2 drafts he does need to have a home run draft like the Saints did last year which would speed things up.

McDougles was a sized athletic freak? He was 5’10 195 pounds and ran closer to a 4.6

He had a muscler frame though.

Jalen Saunders? 5’9 165 pounds.

I suppose the eternal question is how much of this is FO fail vs CS failing to develop.  My money is on a healthy dose of both for us.  Jets management/CS has been under par for a long time now.

An example off the top of my head:  Who the f*** signs Tim Tebow as an FA?  Embarrassing.

It's on the FO all the way. The majority of those guys can't even get on the field and have a career.

Good point.  I can't think of many xJets that are "good" starters anywhere else off the top of my head.  Hm, Woodhouse had a "good run" ....anyone else come to mind?  Ducasse is still playing somewhere ...

It wasn't just Mac though with the Pryor pick at least.  I think everyone that draft thought the 'Big 2' were Clinton-Dix and Calvin Pryor and that it was pretty much a toss up in regards to picking either one.  I just think in typical screw you Jets fashion we got this crap end of it and ended up with social media abusing buffoon.

Now with the Jace Amaro pick guys like Allen Robinson, Davante Adams, Carlos Hyde, Jeremy Hill, Jimmy Garappollo, Jarvis Landry, and Justin Britt all went after him in that round.  What?!??  Why did I just look that up???  Now I'm nervous about this draft.

Most people here wanted Cooks

and if we went safety everyone wanted the 21st century safety, not the 80’s safety

At least the players Macc has picked here can play for the most part. Hack was probably a miss but like someone said before the drafts between 2011-2014 will take years to make up for. We make fun of Lee but at least hes f*cking playing, lol. Your never going to draft pro bowl players every year, but you need guys to at least contribute.

Leo, Lee, Jenkins, Adams, Maye, Shell, Anderson, Hansen, Stewart, Edwards, McGuire, Burris.

Devin Smith got injured (happens). Can Mauldin save his career? Peake?

Than you still have no idea yet what we have in Donahue & Leggette who were injured, Clark who was coming off injury in college, and Jones who has terrific athleticism but needs seasoning.

While Macc didn't LIGHT IT UP per say, anyone can see that these drafts were obviously better than than 2011-2013 & now we go into that 4th year with 3 picks in the top 50. He's gotta make hay in this 2018 draft!

Plus, he needs to do better filling the holes with younger free agents than he did in 2015 when he signed Revis, Skrine, Gilchrist, Cromarty, where even Carpenter should be upgraded now. But, because the Rex/Idzik picks were SO BAD he had no secondary when he came in. Chasing holes sucks for a GM.

The earlier regime left NOTHING in the cupboard in the secondary- 2012 (Josh Bush S, Antonio Allen S), 2013 (Dee Milliner), 2014 (Calvin Pryor, Dexter McDougle). They missed on EVERYTHING. Even what was left Mo Wilkerson (Lazy Bum), Winters (OK Guard), were just scraps. You can't have 4 drafts that leave an average olineman, a DT that gets sat for missing meetings, and a WR that injures his neck in Enunwa.

I just find it utterly impossible to fix something so quickly that has been left barren for so long. You look at where other GMs go & see at least starting quality talent. The Jets were left more bare than most in this league. Macc came in & under the direction of our azzhole owner was definitely told to field a competitive team. from 2011-2014 was horrific!

Hey, it wasn't until the Saints GMs 4th year where they hit it big to really build their team. They had the 2nd overall pick but still....Patience!

In Killa's defense, Mac found 2 whole starters in last years draft.  TWO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The key is to hit on a lot of picks, whether you are picking 1 or 32, whether you have 10 picks or 4 you have to hit on al ot of them as far as starters go with some of your top ones being impact players.  Mac has missed on too many.

Darron Lee has elevated his play to the point where he’s a below average two-down ILB which shows massive progrsss come on

How's he missed on too many? He's adding more each year, just like every other GM does. 1 starter with Leo. 4 with Lee, Jenkins, Shell and Edwards. Then 2 with Adams and Maye, rest is too soon to tell.

Just needs to keep going. And needs to find a QB. That makes everything else easier and obviously makes the team and picks look better.
