Cimini: Bold Prediction for the Jets

I think it's more accurate than bold.  I'm almost certain this is the route the Jets are going.  BAP D at #6, Rudolph in RD 2, McCown for 2018.  Jet up, bitches!

After failing to acquire Kirk Cousins, the Jets will re-sign McCown, then draft Mason Rudolph in the second round. General manager Mike Maccagnan refuses to pay the exorbitant cost to trade up to take one of the top three QBs, so he'll pick the best player with the sixth overall pick and settle for Rudolph on Day 2. -- Rich Cimini

This would be horrible, I've had enough of the "crap-shoot/hopefully we get it right this year" the Jets call 2nd round.

If the rumors are true and the first 4 picks are potentially available, Maccagnan needs to trade up for Darnold, Rosen, Mayfield.

I honestly dont see the difference between Mason Rudolph and anyone not named Rosen.

I have reservations about all the top projected QB'sS to draft but to bring McCown back and another project QB = they is like giving up before you start Hah

If they fail to sign Cousins they should be all over Bridgewater. Hell, why not look at guys like Keenum or Bradford before you go back to McCown? You can't win with McCown. He's not a bad mentor but he's a perennial loser as a starting NFL QB. McCown only makes sense to me if you are drafting a QB at 6 or higher (if they traded up).

I don't believe that. Even Macc isn't stupid enough to believe that, in a QB-rich draft and Cousins possibly hitting the market, he can still keep his job AND not solve the QB dilemma. If he doesn't, than he really is as stupid as he looks...

There is no way this happens.  The world knows he NEEDS to find a QB - or at least attempt to find one.  Drafting Mason Rudolph in the 2nd round does not qualiy as findiing a QB.

He's a hedge you might take in the 4th round if you took Allen in the first - Mac won't survive somethign like that and he knows it.

That's quite the crystal ball Cimini has. Cousins is gonna want a big contract with stupid money after Jimmy G's contract. I'm still thinking the Jets have not given up on Hackenberg. They must be seeing something that many here do not. If they draft a QB it goes to reason that Petty will be out, even though he was the #2 last year. McCown, Hack and a DP looks like an 8-8 season although the schedule isn't all that brutal.

As do and I've been vocal about those concerns since this time last year.  This class is way over hyped and has been for a year now.

That said, I dont see Rudolph as near the project of Hack and I think he's just as pro ready as anyone else in the draft other than Rosen and more so than guys like Darnold, Allen and Jackson for example.

The biggest jam up I have is, what's the difference between him an Mayfield?  Both put up video game #'s, played in the same conference but one has measurables you cant teach or develop like size and arm strength.  Where the other is just a fiery competitor with underwhelming measurables. It's bizarre to me.

McCown?  Yeah, it's waving the white flag but this is what Todd does. He's on record saying he's his favorite player he's ever coached. lmfao

I'm kind of confused.  This prediction has him taking a QB in round 2.  Are you saying Mac wont wait till round 2 or are you saying Mac wont miss out on Cousins?

So you're okay with that scenario? Or only as long as Rudolph starts the season.

IMO it's Cousins, Rosen or Darnold. One of them will be on the roster. BOLD prediction here people.

I'd be ok with it, only if Rudolph starts the season.

My ideal scenarios at this point?

1. Draft Rosen in the 1st

2. Sign Cousins

3. Draft Darnold in the 1st

4. Draft Mayfield in the 1st

5. Draft BAP in the 1st and Rudolph (my preference) or White, Lauretta, Faulk etc. where you think you can get them past round 1 and bring back Joshy or another sh*tty vet as a back up, I repeat, back up.

I disagree.

If Maccagnan does that he will soon be unemployed. He can't not realize that fact.

Exactly.  He's gotta know he needs to go all in on a real QB, no matter what. If he doesn't know that-- adios muchacho.
