Minkah Fitzpatrick is:

1. Humble, yet sassy

2. From Jersey

3. From a big school

4. Plays DB

He’s almost a lock to be the Jets first pick.

Your just dying for the Jets to pick Minkah. Just so you can watch this place burn, and consume it's self. Your the Emperor Nero of Jets Nation.

“after taking two safety’s last year we riiiiiiiiii oh he ran a 4.43 and says he can’t wait to face the Patriots where can I buy his jersey and confront a Minkah hater I’m a huge stan.”

Mel Kiper 2018 NFL Mock Draft: Jets Take Minkah Fitzpatrick

139
By John B

ESPN’s Mel Kiper, Jr. has released his first mock draft of the year. He has the Jets going defense once again.

6. New York Jets

*Minkah Fitzpatrick, CB, Alabama

Fitzpatrick is the top cornerback and safety in this draft. He could play either position. He was primarily a safety at Alabama, but he covered receivers in the slot and on the outside, and he consistently made plays. New York took safeties with its top two picks last year (Jamal Adams and Marcus Maye), so Fitzpatrick would be a corner for the Jets, who have an opening with Morris Claiborne a free agent this offseason. This is another spot to watch for one of the top quarterbacks.

As Kiper notes, Fitzpatrick could project to either cornerback or safety. Presumably the Jets would take him to play at corner.

At this early point, I can’t say I’d be wild about it. While Fitzpatrick did play some corner at Alabama, he did bounce around the Alabama secondary. His ability to play corner in the NFL would be as much projection as solid evidence on film. While I’m not necessarily opposed to that in theory, it would take some convincing for me to buy a projection player as high as 6. At this early point, I’m not a big fan of the corner class for this year.

In this particular mock Josh Allen, Josh Rosen, Bradley Chubb, Saquon Barkley, and Sam Darnold are the first five players off the board.

Would be typical of the Jets to eff things up by picking Fitzpatrick. If you could bet on it, they odds would be too short to make any money.

He can play corner which is a need.  Ive seen other mocks with Fitzpatrick going to the Jets.  If we do not get a QB in Free Agency or via trade, the Jets will draft a QB.

let's just stop with hypotheticals regarding the qb.  if they do draft a qb they will still sign a vet free agent so the whole free agent qb thing is moot.  it just depends if they plan on starting the guy the whole season or until the rookie or even hack is ready.

as for fitzpatrick, i'm in line with the rest of the jets fans who saw safeties picked one and two last season and don't think they need another safety, especially with the 6th pick.  on the other hand, this guy is supposed to be a lock and can play corner so he does feed a need.

But does he run a 4.6?

Rather than looking at silly things like athleticism and speed, are there any impossible-to-quantify measurables that Fitzpatrick possesses that we should know about? Does he have a great attitude? Would you want him to raise your kid, should something ever happen to you? Is he a "leader of men"?

Is he "the first guy in the building and the last guy out" kind of guy?

Gonna leave Mayfield on the board to take Minkah, then Mayfield spends his career as a Buffalo Bill intentionally throwing TDs over Fitzpatrick’s head.

OH YEAH BUFFALO BILL SUPERSTAR ROOKIE MAYFIELD THROWING ONE OF THESE AT TODD BOWLES NEXT YEAR, GARCÒN

If they sign Cousins, they aren't drafting a QB in the first round.  The whole mock draft is a hypothetical at this point because we do not know who they will sign during Free Agency.

i dont see anything wrong with that pick...MF can be a lock down corner in the NFL. Anyone who watched him play at Bama, esp prior to him moving to safety knows how special he is. I rather him then Ward...who will prob run like a 4.35 40.

(edit) assuming we sign a QB in FA....otherwise draft BA QB

i meant they will still sign a free agent qb whether it be cousins or someone to start the season or be back up to the rookie.

Yea but depending on who that QB is couuld drastically change our pick.

We sign anyone except Cousins - we go QB at 6

We sign Cousins - we don't go QB at 6

The time between Week 17 and the draft is more than enough for the Jets to forget how bad the offense was and convince themselves to take the best player in the draft that always happens to play defense.

Were good, we got a Shanahan decipal, that’s all we need on O, CB at 6 all day for Bowles!

The problem with that rant is that the BPA will probably be an OG or a QB.

Not at 6 but I hope maybe with one of the 2nd round picks

Auden Tate*, WR, Florida State
Height: 6-5. Weight: 225.
Projected 40 Time: 4.56.
Projected Round (2018): 1-3.

2/10/18: Tate totaled 40 receptions for 548 yards and 10 touchdowns in 2017, but he was really impressive. The huge receiver is a mismatch weapon who gives defensive backs a lot of problems. He is very dangerous to win jump balls downfield and is a real red-zone weapon. Tate's numbers were held back in 2017 by playing with the backup quarterback, but Tate has huge potential and upside for the NFL. Some sources think that Tate should have returned to Florida State for 2018 and improved before going to the next level, but he decided to enter the 2018 NFL Draft.
