As the article says, Maccs strength is getting those second tier free agents.

his biggest weakness were the big fA deals

Contract: One year, $6 million (fully guaranteed)

Outcome: Money well spent. The 38-year-old started 13 games, galvanized the offense and was named team MVP. It's too bad he isn't a few years younger.

This article is not accurate.  Josh McCown did not only get $6M.  He got another $125K for every game where he took more than 50% of the snaps.  If he started all year he would have earned $8M. As it is, he earned $7.625M.  Most deals will look better if you subtract 30% from the actual amount.

Strength?  Who are these 2nd tier free agents populating the roster?  Are any of them signed for 2018?

Now compare that success to the Eagles paying a couple million less for the SB MVP.

Also since he wasn't drafted, Robby Anderson was technically a FA, and he's so great you have to count him 6 times. Plus mid-level FAs like Carpenter and Skrine, who're both in the top 5 of the High Chance of Getting Cut list.

My favorite argument is that there is no reason to complain about bad signings or dead money because we have enough money now to sign whoever we want.
