because he's 22 years old and has basically had 1 year of real NFL coaching.  he'll get at least 1 more year under Bates before they pull the rip cord.

I’m assuming you mean cut the cord.

Sign Cousins, take Barkley it Chubb, whichever of the two falls to them, and take Lauletta or Falk later on in the draft.

Love this approach, frankly.

Um, Congrats to the Niners for winning the Super Bowl in March!

Do these March Super Bowls come with Rings or trophies?

Will there be a parade? Will the Niners Parade come before or after the Rams and Browns Parades?

#SOJFs

Everyone know that March victories are the Jets and Jets alone.

Lol let me know in what reality where New England calls us instead asking if we want their QB.

You miss the point. Rebuilds start with finding a QB. I’m jot saying we could have had Jimmy. I’m saying our fans enable a bad GM with stories about 5 year ‘real rebuilds’ that are pure crap.

It’s not pure crap. How fast do you think a rebuild takes? 1-2 years? I listed in another thread several GMs that took 4-5 years to reach the playoffs once they started. And that was with some even finding their QB earlier on.

Teams become immediately relevant when they get a QB. I’m not gettingvibto an argument over how many years a rebuild takes, it’s ridiculous.

Tavon Austin, Weston Richburg, Demario Davis, Morris Claiborne, Orleans Darkwa, and ASJ being our only signings.

I’d legit have to start thinking about a new team.

So NFL Network's morning show called us the "best young defensive core" in the league.

Just another example of the national press really loving this team.

New York JetsVerified account @nyjets

“This might be the best young defensive core in the league.” Thanks for the love, @gmfb 👊

It’s hilarious how much you use snippets from the press as the foundation for terrible trolling. You’re a high effort, low impact troll... like the way Sanchez worked his butt off, to barely be average.

You are the Mark Sanchez of JN trolls.

Yup, that’s what you’re doing, alright.

The narrative is more generalized than that.

National Narrative: Jets have ditched the circus and are now doing things the right way. The Giants are now more of a circus than the Jets

This thread is about free agents. NOT about the media. STFU

He wants money but releasing Skrine saves us $8M. (So it’s kinda like getting a discount if we swap ‘em out).

Skrine is 28

Mathieu is 25

...so this may be a Demario Davis scenario, younger/better.

I do it in a heartbeat.

That is a steal given what RBs have gone for

That’s because he’s a mediocre player who cannot catch the ball in a league that now values RB as pass catcher more than thumper.

Hopefully, you're right.  It'd be fun to watch but it's a bad investment long term and we're not a win-now team.

Oh, are we starting with the ‘not a win-now’ narrative already?

Dude had 40 catches a year ago

That doesn’t make him a pass catching RB. If you actually watch him play the game of football, it would be immediately evident that he isn’t a RB in the mold of today’s explosive pass-catching RBs. Teams want Alvin Kamara, those are the RBs you pay for.

Crowell is good, but he’s best used as a thumper. Good to have, but not as expensive.

Its okay for him to be what he is. Not a big deal.

Your making way to many excuses fam . We get it u don’t like him that’s Fine . The jets are clearly looking for the scat back to pair with him . Let’s just see how it works out .

even Kamra has thumper type in Ingram to compliment him .

Nope. I’m pointing out positional value. That’s not an excuse. I wasn’t even criticizing him. Simply making the point that a grinder is worth less than an all-purpose back.

Not my fault it’s over your head. Funny that you managed to come across dumber than United. Didn’t see that coming.

cheap replacement for forte.  and i still think part of the logic is that they may be dealing up for a qb and won't sit with 3 picks on day 2 to fill rb/wr/Te like we would all want to in an ideal world.  so if we have to live with crowell and a real qb, i'll take that combo.

In the role they tried using forte, he’s actually a much better fit. When we got forte his ypc up the middle was down around 2 yds. He was done as a grinder. Crowell is perfect for that role.

And yes, he can catch occasional passes, but he doesn’t create mismatches as a receiver. Those are guys who get paid.

You said he cant catch . Statistics proved you wrong.  Nobody every said he was scatback or elusive but he can catch . We all know he is a power style back .

which is why crowell got paid what he's getting paid.

remember, is this the scheme where denver had 1,000 yard rushers who were no-names?

Yea, I get it. I like the signing. I think he’s a perfect fit for 1-cut zone blocking scheme. I was just making it clear to the doors claiming we got a bargain that guys that are 90% runner, 10% receiver are worth less than guys who are 50/50, because the latter gives the offense more flexibility, and mismatches. It’s just a reality if the NFL becoming pass first.

These dorks want to argue semantics now over ‘can’t catch’ because he’s had a couple catches. Just watch the guy play, he’s not a receiving back. Neither is Legarette Blount, but sometimes he catches some. Doesn’t change the fact that he’s a grinder.

Seems like common sense, until you look at how Mac has handed out money - and who he’s handed it to - and how the team culture deteriorated around those bums.

Heres to hoping he doesn’t repeat old mistakes.
