His point is that having “$100 mil in cap space!” is a social construct that has no real meaning and suggests no actual advantage when you get into the offseason,

Fans are just being slow to adjust to what the current landscape is. Many teams with lots of cap space means massive cap space isn't as big of a competitive advantage this offseason. A lot of guys are going to be getting "record deals" because the market is adjusting to progressive increases in cap and the long term ramifications of rookie wage scale. The premium guys are going to be tagged or resigned. You have a diluted FA pool and the top guys in the pool are going to sign high deals because of the limited supply.

just like the true value of draft picks are different now then when the draft chart was created. A Top ten pick now is way more valuable now then When a top ten pick made a massive amount of money back then.

Happens every year. Jets have been quiet and then will sign some people. People get fretted over nothing

Jets have one winning season in 7 years. Wtf are you even talking about.

Chubb’s 3 cone time should eliminate him for consideration at 6. If all the QB’s are gone or we sign Cousins or Bowles says no QB at 6(the most likely) at least draft Landry. The corner from Ohio St would be my second choice even though I wouldn’t like it.

That would imply the Jets use things like metrics or advanced analytics.

Realistically, this whole franchise is a big yawnfest until they sh*tcan mac and Bowles. But then again, ownership clearly has a vision of a defense first team with a run first offense. We've had that guy way too many times for it not to be the case.

well if they miss out on Cousins, that means they got to go for it in the draft.  heaven help us if they trade up to get Josh Allen.

That's the worst case scenario that really has a realistic chance of happening. If you had to chalk up how to tank a franchise for 3 years, that's probably how you draw it up.

The worst part about it starts from here. As much as it hurts missing on the top guys, or even the second tier guys at this point, the real franchise killer is overpaying for bad talent, which i think is going to start happening soon.

That and trading up for a qb that busts is going to salt the earth for the next front office.

I can't blame NYJ and Macc for trying to land Cousins -- or even hoping to...

But please... tell me we're not stupid enough to balk on spending money elsewhere because the Jets are naive enough to think they're still in it. @Mogglez help me understand bro. How can we not even been in the game right now. All this cheddar and no one wants to eat?

How an NFL gm did not have a viable plan B is beyond me. If you can't get cousins, which the Jets clearly leaked that they knew was a huge obstacle, then go hard after building an OL. At least then you give a qb you draft a fighting chance. Instead we are being strung along like a gopher being used for leverage. Get me out.

They're realizing now the sinking ship they are on.

This is going to be a really ugly year.

But what of all the lessons that beating the chiefs, browns and jags taught them last year? Surely those can never be taken away.

Not me. I hate the Jets but like the Johnson signing. As in it's ok. And the Williamson is a good one. And I love the Bridgewater deal. Then I look at the $10MM to McCown and say **** this team I can't take them seriously.

I'm at the same point. Individually the moves are fine i think. The Jets cap space is funny money anyways until they draft a qb, surround them with talent, and hopefully develop the Qb.

mccown just makes no sense in a team perspective and only makes sense as Bowles just squeezing the lemon of mediocrity to get 5-8 wins again.

Dumbest ******* team in the league.

Our new offense features an old guy, a one legged man, and maybe a guy who drops everything. Didn't realize we were filming The Replacements 2.

The guy is a very very talented WR that is elite in the Red Zone, but he can drive you crazy with just some of the worst drops. I'd take him, but for some reason I just don't see us targeting a guy like him.

He plays offense, so i wouldn't worry about it.
