RedBeardedSavage Posted February 25, 2018 Share Posted February 25, 2018 You can't blame someone for things that happened before they came here - and Macs actually did a good job in drafting Leo (only Vic Beasley and David Johnson were arguably more valuable than Leo from the available players @ 6 in that draft) and eventually trading Sheldon (Kearse + 2nd rounder looks pretty solid value right now). In todays NFL you have to be able to get to the QB. You obviously need players like Snacks, Mo (When he was good), Richardson, and Williams but you need that pass rusher. It's a passing league. You look around at the top teams and they throw the ball. That can neutralize your space fillers who make their plays stopping the run. This team has needed a pass rusher since the day we traded away John Abraham. That was over 10 years ago now and we have yet to find one. That's really bad in today's NFL. You look at some of those teams we had from 08-11 where we had really good D's and if we had a pass rusher we might have been able to win more even with a poor QB. Rex gets waaaaaaay too much credit for being a defensive "guru". I know there is a lot of hate for Bowles right now but Rex was a nosebleed when it counted and those overload blitzes NEVER worked. Mac just gets him players, or doesn't get him good players. If that is how you want to include Mac, but to say Mac could not figure out how to use them is BS, he isn't the HC.
