2018 4th round pick and a 2019 2nd round pick for Marcus Peters

I know this is a Jets board, but there are 30 other teams that could have used Peters services. Peters cap hit for this year is nothing so it's not about other teams not being able to afford him.

I would have LOVED Peters on the Jets, but obviously there are red flags here including big money for a head case when he becomes a FA.

I hear what you're saying but I'm not giving them that crap excuse unless they drop Dylan Donahue, Anderson, and Mauldin

every year there is a guy that drops in the draft due to character concerns, and every year fans go crazy for their team to take the sliding player...happened with Aaron Hernandez, Randy Gregory, the kid from SF that just got busted, its a long long list...and these are just high profile guys, not even lower tier. anyways point is...when teams give away elite players for next to nothing after trying to trade them for 3 weeks (reported)...typically there is a reason...i am fine with the jets taking a pass.

There is a difference between keeping around cheap young talent that have checkered pasts and aggressively pursuing and giving up multiple picks for a CB that will need a long term deal very soon.

Like I said, I would have been happy to land Peters, but it doesn't look like any NFL team was willing to part with much for him. So why should the Jets?

Mac is trying not to use draft picks for head cases.  Trying is the operative word.

I don’t see him giving up a second round pick in any year for a head case.

He is already wearing the Robinson trade.  Mauldin was underscouted by the previous scouting staff-my guess there were no red flags there.

Anderson was a free agent he thought he would get a pass on (and was wrong).

If Donahue really hurt people, given his red flags Mac was in a heap of trouble.  That could have been a van full of people heading to church.

So can’t really fault him for not bringing Peters here when he still has not signed Cousins.  The strategy is all about Cousins.  If Cousins is on board they are pushing for playoffs in 2018 hard.  If Cousins is not signed, it is a longer rebuild, and a one year rental of Peters does not help.

For the Rams, this year is everything.

Marcus Peters under Todd Bowles leadership would be an absolute disaster on epic levels.  He'd be running around punching everyone in the face on a daily basis and Todd would be like, Marcus gets special treatment, his cousin is Beast Mode and he once ran for 150 yards vs. my defense.

Someone who gets it!!!  When a team gets rid of one of the best CB's in the game with

two years left on his rookie contract there are issues that are being hidden from the public

Let’s see, it’s ok to have red flags when you’re Anderson, Donahue, or Robinson.  But a pro-bowl level talent is when we start requiring values and morals?

Im not sure what Macc is doing.  If he is waiting until after the draft to cut Anderson, Robinson, and Donahue, fine.  I applaud him.  No sense running out a bunch of morons every week that are going to make the team, the City, and the NFL look bad.  These are not players I want to root for anyway.

But if you are continuously running out Jags that repeatedly make the organization look like a circus, why the hell not at least require them to be good?

Even the guys who drafted him (now with the Browns and the Colts) wanted nothing to do with him - says a lot. His market included "barely" two teams.

For all that people want to label Anderson et al with the same label - their issues are that they made DUMB mistakes, outside of football. Peters' issue is with football itself - he doesn't accept coaching and quits on his team mates. Very different issues IMHO. Same reason why we will keep Anderson and dump Mo.

how about when tanny gave up a 2nd for holmes?  that was good for one season.  there's something going on for the guy to be had for so cheap.

We all post in here about hoping Macc learns lessons from his mistakes. Well, he's traded picks away for guys with guys with issues for short term gain.

After thinking about this, as a Jet fan we saw close up this azzholes true character at MetLife. He single handedly f*cked his own team with his asinine actions.

Its bad enough we're dealing with Lazy Mo, Giz in your eye Anderson & I don't Uber Donahue. Why add another bonehead? We have way more money than we can possibly use unless we overpay 6 or 7 free agents, so we have plenty of money for a #1 CB, and our QB.

When a pro bowl CB with still 2 years at low salary garners so little attention you stay as far away as you can.

I am more concerned about co-leading the NFL in arrests over the past three years than passing on Peters.

I think the NFL thinks the same way, except the Rams, who are the second coming of the 2009 Jets, which is ok.  They have PSLs to sell in a town where 100,000 or 200,000 people every Fall Saturday go to the USC/UCLA games.  At least through November.

To me, MacBowles are spinning around the drain.  There are going to need some serious breaks for them not to be evicted when Woody gets back.  I don’ t have any hope that Woody will do better, but I don’t like what I see overall.

Has Donahue been cut yet?

Between 2000 and 2017, the vikings had the most arrests with Broncos having the 2nd most. The jets were in the 20's. Who cares about Arrests? Every team has players that get arrested. Does it matter if we have 3 while the Giants have 2? Is that some sort of new standings you follow?

The Patriots had a murderer on their roster, no one cares anymore. They are considered a well run franchise because they win. All that matters is wins and losses. If you want to bash macc over our record that's fair game but to whine about arrests is just dumb imo.

Good point.  You will hear plenty of guys talking about what a great teammate somebody is when we read about their antics in the paper.  Big difference between accepting coaching and  what we consider "character."  It would be nice to have both, but there is a difference.
