Would You Do this ... ??????

Just heard Stephen A. mentioning this scenario and it got me wondering. When you consider we usually wast the 2nd round picks, would you do it? Rodgers is 34, has at least 6 years left.

I don’t like how that show always has to bring up race(ESPN for ya’) but I enjoy the show for the most part and actually agree with some of what Stephen A. says.

Agree. At first I thought "whew thats a lot of picks"... Then ... well we are instantly playoff contention, prob win AFC East, we have cap room to get OLine. and 5-6 years of winning right away.

Hmm... I'll say No for now... No QB is going to survive in our backfield unless they improve the offensive line... And that's going to be tough to do without those picks in my opinion...

True on both accounts guys... It's not a hard no for me... I'm just very afraid of ending up with a situation where we have a top flight QB, and he helps hide some weaknesses, but there's just never enough room or talent to get them over that hump. 

Maybe Rodgers leads them to 9 wins a year, but there's always just enough holes to keep them from really being a contender... And then they're short on resources to try and shore up those parts.

I don't know... It would just make me nervous with all the holes we still have.

I get it... I just don't really have faith in Bowles and this would be about the only way I can see Bowles having any sustained success. Not that I want Bowles around, I am on the FIRE BOWLES bandwagon.

So you'd give up every 1st and 2nd round pick for three years and you'd have to sign him to the biggest extension in NFL history. That's tough. He's probably the single most valuable player in the NFL... But that's A LOT. It would be hard to build a team around him.

Great as he is, at this point I wouldn't do it. the goal is to find the NEXT Aaron Rodgers, not sell the farm retreading the old one. That's how good GM's do it.

The reason Rogers only has one ring is because the team around him has often been lacking. If he comes to this already lacking team that just gave away 6 premium picks Rogers will win NOTHING.

And I am a huge Rogers fan but I already have 40 years of nothing without giving up the picks. NOPE, I'm good.

Is he gonna hike it to himself? Can he pick up a blitz and complete the pass? Can he hold the pocket while making his progressions? You know the little things.

If the Jets had the Vikings Offense I would say HELL YES. They don't though. This team is not a QB away from contention. Why can't guys see that? You just can't throw a bunch of guys together and expect them to just be good to great right out of the gate.

The packers are trying to extend him before cousins deal, but that won't happen. 

He will be due for about $40 million per next year. 

That would mean no picks, no money.

2 years at $20M.  Save $10M off Cousins and you'd still have a 2018 2nd and the rest of the cap space.  People would certainly be complaining about the Bobby Bonilla aspect of giving up our 1st and 2nd in 2020, when he is playing elsewhere.

He hasn't been that bad overall re the draft. But he has not shown a talent for selecting QB's.

Jamal Adams (1), Marcus Maye (2), Dylan Donahue (5), Elijah McGuire (6), Jordan Jenkins (3); Juston Burris (4); Lac Edwards (7)

Jury is out still:

Darron Lee (better this year), Ardarius Stewart, Chad Hansen, Brandon Shell, Jordan Leggett

Overall, that's pretty good based on averages for GM's.
