Yes, the Jets will trade up to #3

....and still take Mayfield.

If we don't move up, I know at least two teams that will. I'd also give my left nut for Mayfield, he's going to be great.

If there is one thing General Managers are famous for, it is telling the truth about potential draft picks.  I don't think Gettelman is particularly big on offensive linemen early.  The earliest he ever took on was Taylor Moton with the last pick of the 2nd round last year.  He's a a college G/RT though, so I guess it isn't too far fetched.

The only way to justify taking a guard in the top 5 is in hindsight: if he ended up being amazing and basically every other player picked/projected around your #5-ish pick ends up being an over-hyped bust. Like if Jonathan Cooper ended up being all that in 2013, then fine in hindsight because that draft was so awful up top.

I remember some of us being repeatedly lectured at when Cooper came out with no less hype. Stuff along the lines of, "You don't get it. A guard like this comes out once maybe every 10-20 years. He'll be an instant, elite staple on the OL for a decade and a half, after which he waltzes right into Canton in his first year of eligibility. He's not 'just a guard' at all. Warmack, too."

No guards in the top 10 (let alone in the top 5). Not ever. Frankly the only justifiable position on the OL to take that high is LT, and even that's purely because it's the only OL position where really solid starters are so hard to find after round 1 or via FA.

My order isn't as important for me as I just want one of Rosen, Darnold, Mayfield, Jackson...I guess in that order but it's all really close. I actually tend to like Mayfield and Jackson more than Darnold in my gut. And Rosen's mouth and health is a slight risk.

Rosen's health is a huge concern. But I am afraid more about his mouth. Doesn't seem like a good fit here.

If we're gonna go draft, in a risky pool of players, at least go with the one who will be FUN.  +1

I am all in on that. We have lost and had it be boring. If Mayfield doesn't work out, let's go out in style lol!!!

I have a guy I trust when it comes to player eval. he is adament about mayfield ending up the best of  the group longterm both in skill and leadership. He told me he is like Adams on field, take control Field General.

That's what you are betting on with mayfield. He isn't the ideal height, doesn't have elite arm strength and comes from a conference where they don't play defense but he has the "IT" factor. He seems like a winner and a Russell Wilson type of player. But we'd be taking him top 6 while Seattle gambled on Wilson in the 3rd. Big difference.

You just never see a kid with his measurables going this high.

If you want to go out in a blaze of glory then draft Jackson. He will be chucking 60 yard bombs off his back foot, breaking off 50 yard runs, and bring offensive excitement I have never seen while being a Jet fan. Seriously can't remember the Jets ever having a player that has a chance to score anywhere on the field, ever.

Jackson would be my favorite to win Rookie of the Year and my favorite to be out of the league in 5 years.

Lol he might be. There's always the concern with guys whose feet more than their arm is what makes them dangerous. Few successfully make the transition like a McNabb, where it was his 500 rushing yards making him dangerous, to being a serious passer even without running. But they're fun as **** to watch, and the really good ones make it look so effortless when a DL or blitzer breaks through and has them dead to rights, and these types just make them look stupid as he runs for a bigger gain than the designed pass play would've been.

Fun aside, first and foremost they have to be passers, though. The best of the best QBs all get banged up, and he can't be reduced to Hackenberg level usefulness when he has to wear a stiff knee brace or anything else that robs him of elite scrambling & sprinting ability.

Hey - and anyone can answer - I didn't watch him play, so all I have to go by are numbers on paper and youtube highlight clips that make any future bust look like a future HOFer.

So his completion % that was hurt by a disproportionate number of drops, how much was he throwing to tighter windows at least 8-15 yds past the LOS?

Or were they just a lot of short dumpoffs + when pushing it downfield was throwing to wide open WRs, where throws off the mark by 3-5 yards still became big gainers or TDs, where as those same throws would've been batted down or picked off if any real coverage was there?

sort of, but no one was going to take wilson in 1st 2 Rds. he was pegged all along as 4th Rd. I sent 3 emails to Jets begging to reach for him in 3rd, even 2nd if needed. Saw him enuf closeup to know he 'had it'

I dont think they tradeup for anyone other than those 2 IF they tradeup. I hear they like Mayfield better than them all.

the old Len Dawson high % completion rate.. 80% were dumpoffs

After speaking with people throughout the day, it seems there are four teams presently in the running for quarterback Kirk Cousins: the Minnesota Vikings, Denver Broncos, Arizona Cardinals and New York Jets.

There’s still much to play out, but people I’ve spoken with feel it will be an uphill battle for the Jets to sign Cousins despite being the team with the ability to pay him the most money, especially in the early years of a new contract.

If that is the case, I'm rooting for Denver!! Mayfield or Rosen can possibly land in our lap if this is how it plays out. Hoping Cards and Vikes fail in their attempt.

heard he used to bull's-eye womp rats in his T-16 back home. they're not much bigger than 2 meters

He's not wrong on that statement IMO, his completion percentage is through the roof. I really hope we end up with him, this is one of those situations I hope the NFL is pulling strings to boost their ratings haha

mayfield by the numbers is the top QB in this class, it’s not even really that close. realistically I’m good with any of the top QB prospects in this class at #6
