he is the one QB I dont want the Jets to take and the one I feel like our Gm will end up taking. Our GM has proven to be one of the leagues worst judges on drafting QBs as well

He traded up to get Petty who he said had a very high ceiling-next up Hack simply a terrible QB that most fans knew would be terrible-he is in fact so bad the Jets wont even play him in meaningless games. Mayfield is going to be the next johnny football and hope to god the jets dont draft him. I would even rather they go defense again with the one over him as some how even though we draft defensive first every year we have one of the worst defensive units in the league

Anyone but Allen is what this should say. We can argue whether a player is worth being taken at 6, but Allen is the 1 QB that we should avoid at all costs, to me he has the lowest floor of the top 4 QB's. He is being over hyped by the media for the love of his "big arm".. laughable... but its unfortunate that people are buying into the hype... 

Mayfield is not Jonny Football, and yes, Hack is garbage, Petty is what most expected him to be - not a starting QB just a roster guy. He will give you hope in meaningless preseason games (Brett Ratliff)

I hope he takes Mayfield. Mayfield is my number 1 among QB's available at 6. Not the best QB, that's probably Rosen for me. He's not the best player in the draft, IMO that is Saquon Barkley. But at 6, Baker Mayfield is a great pick. He does a lot of things right and he seems to be a little more advanced along in pursuit of the pro game than all the others.

The one QB that was already being touted as the best prospect down the line and then goes out and has the best combine of all the QB's  yet still many at JN are opposed to drafting him.   

If we do not get Cousins, we should take any of the 4 QB's either available at 6 or through a trade up.

This could ultimately work out to be a good thing? For those out there that think Mac sucks, maybe this is proof of their point? Maybe he takes Mayfield at 6 and the kid is an idiot. Maybe he becomes Sanchez 2.0? The, as a result, Mac gets fired. So maybe that's a good thing for those that so desperately want to say, "I told you so".

In the meantime, the Jets are the ones who suffer. So regardless of how I feel about him, I really, really, really want this pick to work.

Baker Mayfield will end up being the best pro.  

Other being a couple of inches shorter than people want -  he checks every other box.  Accurate, Strong Arm, Smart, Athletic, surveys the field/not locked on primary target and has a quick release.

lol, best prospect... the kid has too many holes to his game agains weaker competition. The issues he has are not historically corrected in the NFL. of all the top QB's he is the one we shouldn't take because we (THE JETS) haven't and can't develop a QB in decades. Drafting a QB this year needs to be about getting the best ready to play now QB. and for the next 10 years. 

Tell me how many times you watched Josh Allen and you were like, wow ... he is the best player on the field. it is not many times.

Don't forget he won the Heisman trophy while playing in back of Orlando Brown. How tall is Brown? Like 6' 8"? Mayfield is apparently not that IDEAL height. However, he played in back of a real monster and put up Heisman numbers. I think that flies directly in the face of those complaints that his height will affect him in a bad way...

A guy that talks as if he has been in the league for 10 years and has zero clue what it is really like to be in the pros without terrific athletic ability for the position.

The Following QBs have great chance to become stars at the NFL level (barring injury) if they are drafted into the right system, developed properly and surrounded by a solid supporting cast.

B.Mayfield, Allen, Darnold, Rosen, Jackson.

None of these guys are sure things but they are all great talents with unique individual strengths and weaknesses. 

Personally, I don't have character concerns with ANY of these guys. 

As far as the Jets are concerned, I would be fine with them taking any one of these guys- as long as they are developed properly and surrounded by a solid supporting cast. I.E. they will all need to sit a season behind a vet and the Jets need to re-tool the O-line and surround them with weapons. I think all of them can play in a West Coast leaning system. 

Mayfield is the most NFL ready, followed by Darnold then Rosen then Jackson. Allen is the least NFL ready (IMO) and may need more than one season to sit and learn.

Jackson has the highest ceiling. I mean, clearly he is an uber athlete at the QB position the likes of which we do not see often (RGIII and Vick come to mind). Followed by Allen, then Darnold, then Mayfield, then Rosen. 

It all depends on what characteristics you value most. All of these guys could end up Pro Bowlers early o in their careers. All of them have weaknesses they will have to fix to be successful in the NFL. QB is the hardest position to judge coming into the draft. I'm going to let the 'professionals' do their job evaluating these guys instead of judging them with a blanket statement like 'Mayfield is going to be the next Johnny football'.

This is a win win for the Jets if Mac takes him. Posters need to look at the bright side of things. There's no way the Jets are getting Darnold, so forget it. He's off limits.

Mac picks Mayfield and puts the arrogant little jerk off in a straight up QB contest with a resigned McCown. If he wins we're on the fast track to having a FQB. If he fails, the little a$$hole gets his attitude adjustment that everyone thinks he's long overdue for. He's forced to do everything he has to make this thing work, because failure in his mind is not an option.

I come back to the Parcells rules and what you’ve seen on tape and what you saw at the combine: I’m ok with this pick:

He must be a senior, because you need time and maturity to develop into a good professional quarterback.
He must be a graduate, because you want someone who takes his responsibilities seriously.
He must be a three-year starter, because you need to make sure his success wasn’t ephemeral and that he has lived as "the guy" for some period of time.
He must have at least 23 wins, because the big passing numbers must come in the context of winning games.

Parcells when I charge of personnel:

QBs selected:

1993 Drew Bledsoe 1 overall.  decent QB not worth a 1 overall.

1994 Jay Walker- who? at least he had a fun name

1997 Chuck Clements(could have had Peyton in this draft if he just assured him he would take him 1 overall)

2008 Chad henne(could have taken Matt Ryan rd 1 in this draft)

2009 Pat White(he was drafted to be a Brad Smith type not a QB)

 

that's a heck of a QB drafting resume for a guy fans and the media always quote on his philosophy of drafting QBs.
