Ill start:

For me:

Ultra nightmare: Cousins, Bridgewater or Bradford and Fitzpatrick in RD1

Nightmare:

1. Signing Cousins

2. Signing Bradford

3. Signing Bridgewater

4. Picking something other than QB in RD 1

Ideal:

1. Staying at 6 and getting Mayfield

2. Staying at 6 at getting Allen, Rosen or Dranold

3. Trading up to get the guy we want

So you prefer not to answer the QB question at least for a few years

the worst nightmare has already happened.  Mac making this pick and Todd Bowles coaching this year

as far as FA/draft goes

Ideal: Cousins or one of the top 4 Qbs

Nightmare: Signing Bridgewater or Keenum and McCown then taking neither a QB or pass rusher at 6

Nightmare:

Winning 5 games in a meaningless season thus giving todd bowles an extension meaning we are just out of the QB sweet spots and will have to pay through the face to get one of the good ones.

The guy we drafted at #6  to be a playmaking safety is an in box run stopper, a year after using our 1s pick on a non play maker run stopper.

We pass on a chance to get Rosen or Darnold by trading up, to wait for Allen or Mayfield.

Dream:

Teams go gaga over barkely and Allens physical tools and draft them top 5, another Qb needy team sings a fa QB and Sam Darnold falls into our lap.

For me:

Ultra nightmare: Not able to sign Cousins and don't draft any of the Top 4 QBs (Rosen, Allen, Darnold, Mayfield) because the Jets weren't able/willing to trade up.

Ideal:  Signing Cousins which unlocks the #6 pick for true BPA.  Having Barkley fall to the Jets (unrealistic) or trading back from #6 to a little later and still getting a solid offensive player like OG Nelson, WR Ridley, OT McGlinchey, etc. while adding another 2nd round pick.  Grabbing the third or fourth best RB in the Draft when the Jets pick early in Round 2.

Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious Ideal: trade up to draft the QB we want.

Plain Jane Ideal: Stand pat at #6 and draft best QB available.

Kinda Ideal:  Sign Cousins

Soul bludgeoning nightmare: Sign  ANY free agent QB not named Cousins and don't draft a QB in the 1st round.

Nightmare?

Resigning McCown to be the #6 backup. Rosen, Darnold, Mayfield, Barkley and Allen go in that order.

Macaggnan trades back to #10 w Oakland thinking Jackson will still be there. Miami moves up #9 w SF and takes Jackson.

Jets take BPA D'Ron Payne and then Mason Rudolph with their first, second round pick.

Nightmare:

1. Sign Bridgewater or McCown + Draft a CB at #6

2. Trade up for Allen

Ideal:

1. Draft Rosen/Mayfield/Darnold at #6 and spend all $ earmarked for Cousins on OL; draft Ronald Jones in 2nd round

2. Sign Cousins and draft BPA at #6

signing bridgewater and drafting defense in the first round would probably tell me i should stick to college football, that this team doesn't have a prayer until this gm is gone.

What's sad is your nightmare (and mine) is the mostly likely scenario.

IMO, Cousins and Minkah is the most likely scenario.

Ideal -

Mayfield at 6 (without trading up)

and then go offense with both 2nd rounders.

Ideal:

  • Cousins + Barkley
  • No Cousins, Jets find the stones to draft Lamar Jackson and let him learn from McCown for a year
  • wild-eyed-optimistic scenario: Barkely @ 6, Lamar Jackson in round 2

Nightmare:

  • Josh Allen is a NYJ
  • any situation involving Hackenberg and a non-Cousins veteran QB as our 'solution' @ quarterback
  • Minkah Fitzpatrick @ 6

Allen Rosen MAyfield Barkley Chubb Darnold.

Those 6 players are better than Fitzpatrick

Saved me a lot of typing although, I would add just drafting Allen in first Rd. but ultra nightmare is trade up for Allen, especially if Rosen or Darnold are there.

Ideal Scenario:

Sign Cousins, draft either Barkley or Chubb, Price in round 2 w/ either OLB or RB (whomever you didn't get in round 1), sign Fuller, Norwell, Robinson, and Jansen, dump one of winters or carpenter, bring back our desirable FAs

Sign Bridgewater or Bradford short term, draft Mayfield, Darnold, Rosen, Allen, or Jackson go Price and RB in round 2, sign the above plus the Honey Badger

Nightmare Scenario:

McCown & some bum, never going to pan out, 2nd round QB to pair with our other 2nd round QB, sign Jags like Dion Lewis

Sign Keenum to Cousins money and sign jags like Dion Lewis

Sign AJ McCarron to big money

Nightmare:

jets sign anyone else BUT cousins (like bridgewater or the philly guy) AND DONT use any of their top 3 picks. Squandering away an opportunity to grab a good qb in a qb deep draft with good position. May not happen again for a long time.....

BEST CASE:

Assuming Cousins signs elsewhere, we stay put at 6 and we get one of the top 3 or4 qbs or even that barkley dude. who knows. I dont want to move up and burn draft picks that are valuable to us right now

OR

Jets sign cousins. Jets STILL draft best qb left at 6 (unless barkley is somehow there). Cousins will be mad, but too bad. man up. Then, we use the 2 second rounders and third rounder on OFFENSE ONLY
