I would help you out and delete it but Max has gotten upset with my inability to discern threads that should be deleted. I have  to take a remedial deleting class in the mod lounge while he sits there naked while Slats and Sperm play the bongos topless.

Other than Namath for Chad, and maybe Santana Moss for Coles, this spot on. Isn't it sad how few stellar offensive players this franchise has actually had? We are talking 40 years here at least since the OP mentioned Richard Caster who by the way I have met in person and was a total and complete joy of a man to sit and talk football with. I remember telling him I was a big fan of his and he replied "oh so your the one" LOL. Total gentleman.

pretty good list but no maynard? sauer? hill? boozer? snell?  it looks like you came on board as a jets fan in the 80's.  much as people think the sb team was all about namath, that team was pretty loaded with really good players at most positions.

Ken O'Brien belongs nowhere near a greatest Jets list.  I don't care that Vinny only started 3 years here he and Sanchez belong in any list over O'Brien.

Here's mine(from early 80s-current)

QB: Chad, Vinny

RB: Freeman, Curtis

FB: Brad Baxter, Tony Richardson

TE - Mickey Shuler, Anthony Becht

WR - Al Toon, Keyshawn
WR - Wesley Walker, Laveraneus Coles
LT- Brick, Jason fabini
G - Dwayne White, Pete Kendall
C - Kevin Mawae, Nick Mangold
G - Dan Alexander, Brandon Moore
RT -Marvin Powell, Damien Woody

I wasn't around for Caster.  we haven't had much at TE since I became a fan in the early 80s.  I debated about barkum(who has one of the greatest catches in jets history), Brady and becht but I chose Becht b/c he was around longest for me and while not a great pass catcher he was a great run blocker.

Any list that includes Chad simply shows how bad we have been at the QB position since 1972.

we have been bad at QB since 1960 outside of a couple of Namath seasons, a Todd season, an O'Brien season, a Vinny season, a Chad season and a Sanchez season. it's why we have never eben able to consistently win. the teams w/ top QBs are usually in the playoffs and have chances to win, we make the playoffs every once in a while.

Thats exactly why if I were a player, I would avoid the JETS.  MANAGEMENT is so much more important than players. It takes a special kind of owner to suck for 20 years.

I agree with you about O’Brien, he had a ton of offensive talent surrounding him and never won a playoff game. He also took a ton of sacks that are unfairly blamed on the offensive line.

we haven't sucked for 20 years, we've actually had our best run in history the last 20 years though in recent years we have struggled. It's not like we have been Cleveland who has made the playoffs once since they were brought back or Buffalo who finally made the POs for the 1st time this Century last season.  We've made the playoffs 7 times w/ 3 different QBs and 4 different HCs in that span. we've won playoff games in 5 different postseasons which is equal or more than:

New Orleans(5)

San Francisco(5)

Denver(5)

Arizona(4)

Carolina(4)

Tennessee(4)

Jacksonville(4)

Miami(3)

NYG(3)

Houston(3)

Oakland(3)

Chargers(3)

Rams(3)

Washington(2)

Tampa Bay(2)

Dallas(2)

Chicago(2)

Kansas City(1)

Cincinnati(0)

Detroit(0)

Buffalo(0)

Cleveland(0)

Only 9 teams have playoff wins in more different seasons than the Jets in the last 20 seasons so this notion that we've been horrible just isn't true. This decade has sucked but even w/ missing 7 straight postseasons we are still high on this list.

Absolutely, we had some good OLs but Ken was a statue in the pocket and would hold on to the ball too long waiting for a big play to happen taking many sacks he shouldn't have.  when he did throw deep he threw a pretty deep ball and that's probably what fans remember when seeing highlights but he is very overrated by Jet fans.
