Could the Browns make a late push for Cousins?

They have Jarvis Landry, Corey Coleman, and Josh Gordon at WR, they can (let him know if he signs with them they plan to) draft Saquan Barkley, and Quenton Nelson to add to this stable to attract Cousins, and money/salary cap space is not an issue.

Could be late contenders at the finish line!

And the Browns are keeping their 3 picks in the 2nd this year?

Really could be a franchise-altering offseason for the Browns...  Maybe we should've hired an offensive-minded head coach, tanked last season and traded down last year to acquire more picks for this year.

You know it's bad when you'd rather be the Cleveland Browns.

I heard a rumor that money talks and that Cousins was gonna chase every last penny and that’s why the Jets will snag him because they have <adjusts glasses, brings parchment and candle close to nose> $20 million dollars less than the Browns in cap space.

They've got an elite young pass rusher, a quality, veteran offensive line, an offensive-minded head coach, Jarvis Landry, a boatload of cap space, and the 1st, 4th, 33rd, 35th, and 64th picks in the draft.

Whether they sign Cousins or not, they're in better shape than us.

The smart move is for the Browns to draft a QB long-term.

Maybe the other move is to sign Cousins for 3 years, use 4 for a QB to have years 4 and 5 (Allen?), and keep the draft picks and stock up?

Landry sucks and Hue Jackson is worse...

The Browns WILL win some games next year.

If you played the 4 players on offense/4 players on defense to keep game like someone here pondered for the Jets, you can easily find 4+ players from the Browns UNDER CONTRACT on each side of the ball to keep.

For the Jets, you cannot.

I’ve spoken with dbatesman about this before. They have more opportunity than the Jets. More assets than the Jets. They’re not better off right now. They have the potential to be in better shape.

that elite young pass rusher, quality OL and offensive minded HC got them 0 wins last year

It's amazing how many people seem to forget this.

They've won 1 game in the last 2 years. And that's before adding Landry. They have the potential to be great, if they make the right moves

Let's be real about this.  The Browns bit the bullet and played the young QBs they drafted.  They had the worst QB in the NFL.  Hue Jackson was also pretty awful.

Yes, you can respond that McCown was on the Browns in 2016 and the results were basically the same.

But the Jets had McCown, not Kizer, and the Jets signed a bunch of players who played decently on one year contracts.  The result of McCown and the other one year contracts, which the Browns did not do because they were actually trying to build a winner, were five wins the Jets should not have had.

If you gave me a choice of the Browns players under contract vs the Jets', I would take the Browns.  If you add a QB and Dorsey's draft picks to the Browns, I would think they beat the Jets, easily.   Get the Browns a better coach and more players, they make the playoffs in 2019.  I don't see that happening in Jetsland.

1. That tells the difference between Cleveland and New York. You can't really do that in New York. Even the Yankees have had issues doing it. You can't tank in NY without major consequences

2. Went to look at the Browns roster. Dead last in offense last year. 31 out of 32 in defense. Kizer got sacked 38 times

I think the Jets overachieved and the Browns underachieved, based on the rosters.

My view on the Browns is based in large part on the players that the Jets have under contract, which does not include McCown, Claiborne, ASJ, Davis and Ealy.

Claiborne, Davis and Ealy I think will be back.
