Is The NFL Offseason More Interesting Than The Regular Season?

This year I remember seeing a lot of posts talking about how the NFL is not what it used to be.  People were sick of what the game has turned into.  The refs made terrible calls (or the rulebook badly needed to be updated), replays were non-stop and took forever, defense is illegal, the same teams win every year, etc.

However, this offseason people on this forum are really excited about free-agency and the draft.  I'm sure some of this has to do with knowing this past year was a rebuilding year for the NYJ and many (including me) wanted them to tank.  Plus this is both a QB draft (the big 4) and a QB offseason (Cousins).  And, of course, the Jets have a ton of money to spend this offseason so we know there will be a lot of guys in play for us.

It is for teams who suck. This is our playoffs! All or nothing in this draft. Play hard and smart.

Exactly.  Its about time that we cared as much about the regular season as we do about the offseason.

Meh. Nfl product isn't that good anymore. The games are predictable, there's no integrity to the league, it's all about exploiting the rules. The superbowl was actually an easy one to predict this year. I said to my friends "even the players are saying it's funny how it always goes the patriots way" and the league will have them lose to try and keep people interested. It has certainly has always been a business but it's seems obvious that it's all about maximizing profit product be darned.

Seasons > offseason

Offseason is 'interesting' because change is interesting, and hope still exists for everyone in the offseason.

We (Jets fans) are all excited because likely new/drafted QB and tons of cap space to spend to improve, i.e. we have hope for a change.

It has to be said that the NFL is doing just fine.  The Jets are not, which colors what WE think of the NFL as a whole.

With the Jets being risk averse and focused on front office job security over winning a super bowl, it's been dull fare for Jets fans for a number of years. We all argue over our different philsophies on how to change the narrative of this football team. This has been the most exciting offseason in years with a better than average group of draftable qbs. Like Beerfish, I am excited about the offseason until the Jets make their picks on draft weekend, then it is like Tom Brady's ball boys taking the footballs into the bathroom, very deflating. Scouting college players, following the moves of the trade heavy teams as they jockey for position ahead of the draft... that is tremendous fun.
