Now that we're on our way to failing another FA period, time to predict the future.

The future is the present is the past. Everybody plays to their incentives. The guys in the front office and on the field don't matter. Woody gives the people what they want and what the people want is almost unfailingly wrong and stupid.

My prediction is that we sign a bunch of middling FA vets like Malcolm Butler/Dion Lewis etc... Which will guarantee that we win 7-8 games which is about as bad as winning 5 games during a season we were supposed to tank.

7 wins doesn't get those two bums job security after two 5-11 seasons, right? Guys, right? GUYS?

As long as they draft a QB at #6 or higher, they are OK. But what they did over the last 2 days was completely box themselves into doing so. And they are going to plug that kid in without a center (currently)

I think even if the team implodes, the newly drafted QB will show enough that the Johnson's will feel that Mac has done a good enough job and will let him hire a new HC.

At this point, knowing we may pick top 3 next year, do you still trade away next year's 1 for Rosen or Darnold?

Then you will be told "It takes at least 3 full seasons to gauge a draft class".

The problem is that Macc seems to be waiting to see how things play out.

I stated some time back - Mac had to make a splash somewhere, be it with Cousins signing or moving up and getting one of the top 2 qbs.

If he fails that, I think both he and Bowles are gone unless they make the playoffs this year and we all know that ain't happening.

So you don't feel this is a little premature? I mean we're still into the legal tampering portion of the off season. Actual free agency has not started yet.

Mac had one goal to get a QB. He knew if he didn't, he'd get canned. The fans have wanted Bowles canned since about half way through the 2015 season. I don't see a single scenario where Mac stays and Blowes gets canned. 

My vote says both go after this season.

Shouldn't one of the choices be to reference a handful of fans who call the FA period a failure before it actually starts?

I think they will both be back after this upcoming. I'm not even getting into whether or not I agree or disagree (and a lot depends on this upcoming season I would guess) but I just feel like the Jets are committed to these guys.
