LOL.  A couple of things to remember. Idzik was embarrassingly bad.  Even though today did not meet our expectations, MacCagnan isn't a horrible GM.  Also Woody's biggest weakness as an owner is he is swayed by the public.  By all accounts his brother Chris is not.

MacCagnan is not a bad GM I agree.  Pen in one hand and fist full of money in the other but nobody wants to play for Bowles.

Lets see how this whole off season unfolds. Today was only one day. Long way to go, and we did sign a nice running back!

good thing he isnt, otherwise we may have had a franchise QB, or a number 1 WR...crisis averted people...nothing to see here.

The embarrassingly bad may yet come.  If the Jets are leap-frogged, or worse, intentionally pass on selecting a QB that tears up the AFCE for years to come...

Macc will join a long list of Jets front office executives that live in infamy.

He’s an okay GM but has been a bad talent evaluator, especially at QB. Darron Lee, Petty, Hack....all were misused draft picks. His FA signings have been decent but that’s easy when you have 3-4 years of NFL game tape to judge. You succeed in the long run by drafting well and so far Macc has mixed results at best.

Chris isn't allowed to be swayed. He has to pick up the red phone on his desk that connects directly to the US Embassy in London for permission to order more hot dog buns for MetLife.

He is both a horrible GM and a horrible talent evaluator. People literally are citing, among his better points, the many failures he had but noting they were only 2 year-long problems so that somehow makes them good.

His top 5 veteran contract acquisitions in 3 seasons were Carpenter (who sucked in 1 of 3 years and everyone wants to dump); Claiborne (a 1-year rental in a 5-win season); trading for Ryan Fitzpatrick (which simultaneously set the team back because he believed this was Fitz’s baseline rather than an apex that relied upon a miraculous series of fortunate circumstances and events); trading for Marshall (which was already a mistake by year 2); if there’s a 5th one it’s escaping me right now. Maybe McLendon?

His best draft picks are all 1st rounders any risk-averse puss could have made without watching any of them play, and with each of these 1st rounders we’d have been better off going in another direction.

He has made roughly 10 poor decisions for every 1 good one, and that’s without weighting those decisions for magnitude.

He is noticeably better than absolutely nobody. He is the Todd Bowles of GMs.

Because he got one out of 4 FAs he was the highest bidder for? He’s paying McCown $10 mil when nobody in the league was interested, just like Fitz. The man never learns from his stupid mistakes. Rebuilding teams don’t need 40 year old QBs and garbage RBs.
