LockeJET
We can't trade next years #1 to move up. Why? Because it will be the 1st pick in the draft. I know the offseason isn't over BUT even if we draft a QB he will sit year 1. Lets look at the top 5 teams in front of us. Clev - even before the draft the offense is night and day better. Add Barkley and a future QB to groom. Noway are we even close to better. Giants - A healthy Giants team wont be picking in the top 5. Indy - As long as Luck plays they wont be picking in the top 5 Clev - above Denver - Adding a decent QB they're at the very worst 7 win team. I realize other teams could have one of those bad years but nobody is close to us when it comes to talent. We are by far the worst team in the NFL right now. Jets will have the #1 pick in the draft next year

MDL_JET
Not happening. They'll squeak out enough wins to miss out on the top prospect.
LockeJET
Even a top 5 pick is too rich. keep the pick and pray a QB falls. If not draft BAP and next year get the QB.

The top 4 QBs are most likely better than any QB next year. We cannot afford to do it just because they may be the first QB off the board. This is the year you move up to grab your QB. Who knows about next year.

Greenseed4
This has got to be a record for the SOJF defeatist ****ery, we’re not even to the first day of free agency and we’ve got fans waving the white flag. Unbelievable.

All joking aside, as I heard on a podcast yesterday, the most likely scenario in 2018 is that McCown “reverts to the Mean”, his “career year” last year is nothing but an outlier. In 2018 he’ll do what Fitzpatrick did in 2016. Why anyone was surprised by Fitzpatrick’s 2016 is beyond me, that was the real Fitzpatrick. Long odds that McCown replicates his numbers of last year. Any snap taken by a 39 year old journeyman is 1 snap too many, for the simple fact that he has never been to a playoff game nor are you ever winning anything with him. Get a rookie in there and if that rookie isn’t the one then draft another one, but McCown is the same as Fitzpatrick, a waste of everyone’s time. 4 consecutive years of this garbage. I don't mind the hope. If people choose to and are able to be optimistic, I envy them. What doesn't make a lot of sense to me is when the hopeful fans treat the pessimistic ones like we are unreasonable idiots. That's a debate they probably shouldn't provoke given the evidentiary advantage of the "Jets will certainly screw it up" position.

Patriot Killa
Lol moot point to try and make... because if we trade up for Rosen or another top prospect there is no way in HELL we have the first pick next year. simple as that.

You are honestly thinking too hard into it. McCiwn won’t play in the preseason again like last year. It will be Bridgewater vs Rookie. If the rookie shows flashes, he could wind up being the starter within’ the snap of a finger. He isn’t just going to be permanently stuck behind the other two if he’s good. That’s only Hack/Petty level of incompetence.
