Why do you have two vets with a first round qb? Sounds like they are taking Josh Allen and giving him a red shirt year.

Because they’re not taking a first round QB. The Jets right now think they’ve punted QB to next year.

A one year deal is perfect.

If he can play, they will have the first chance to extend or tag him.

If he can't, off the hook quickly.

Also, a one year deal leaves the Jets without an excuse to pass on a QB at #6.

Except you forgot one small, but important point...

We won't see him play because McCown has already been named the starter.  Because Todd Bowles...

Heard Bart Scott today talking bout Teddy....had interesting point.  Sign a front loaded 2 yr deal.... draft a qb who sits and IF Bridgewater looks good next yr you have a serious trade chip if rookie is deemed ready..... but not to be

Mac and Bowles have made career-extending project players an art form.

7-10 year rebuild.

Because those two veteran QB's are coming off injuries.  Who knows if either one could play 16 games if they had to.

What will we get when we trade McCown?

There are no QB’s worth taking next year. But there is a really good punter.

Mason Rudolf or Luke Falk will be our QB of the future, hence the need to redshirt him.  And they will waste a high draft pick, a la Hack. Just watch.  Totally Jets' plan.

If the Jets take one more QB in round 2... I am f*cking done with this franchise.

So, we are paying Bridgewater $5 million so he can rehab for another year and hit the market in 2019.  Brilliant.

1 year really doesn’t make sense. It’s going to be a repeat of the ASJ, Claiborne and DD situations this year. Make it multi-year. Even assuming we take a QB top 6 and he pans out, we need a decent backup QB.

I'm good with this. Sounds like it's a "prove it " deal with Bridgewater plus we have McCown in case the knee's not up to par. Add a rook for McCown to mentor and it's a good situation.

yes it’s insurance so the team isn’t forced to put their rookie QB in a bad situation if he’s not ready
