The Jets are “very likely” to sign offensive lineman Spencer Long on Wednesday, according to Jason La Canfora of CBSSports.com (on Twitter).

They are also pushing to land defensive end DaQuan Jonesas well, JLC adds.

2014 4th pick of Titans from PSU

In 2017, Jones started the first 12 games before suffering a torn biceps and was placed on injured reserve on December 4, 2017.  He finished the season with 31 tackles and a career-high 3.5 sacks.

I don't know much about him, but if he can play C or G, that's a plus.  If you can nab one of the C in draft, slide him over to guard and cut Carpenter.

yup !.. he can play G or C,.. he'll help us more than hurt us  ;)

There are some injury concerns here as he missed part of last year and also part of his senior college season.

That being said, he is versatile and can start at center or guard, which allows to grab price/daniels in the draft and move him to guard or play him at center if the board doesnt go our way for one of the top centers

it would really be great if the jets don't have to forfeit those 2nd rounder to get a qb and can use them on offense.

That was why I wanted to sign Cousins. Either way, the Jets aren't going to be able to get into the top 2 so they will only need  to move from 6 to 3 which shouldn't cost us either of our 2nd round picks.

Send Indy #6, this yrs 3rd and Hackenberg. Throw in a 2019 Day 3 pick if necessary

With Luck’s shoulder and Frank Reich as HC they can continue to develop Hackenberg since he appears done here.

20th ranked Center - so slightly below average by PFF grades.  Which is still a significant improvement over a guy who did not even make the top 32.  In a 32-team league.

Still hope we get a C in the draft, but we needed someone on the roster who can play.

Hackenberg is going to be delivering packages for UPS in the next couple months once the Jets get rid of him.

Exactly. Also seems like much better in Pass Protection than Run Blocking. Here is from an article on PFF last season:

  • The Washington Redskins have announced that Spencer Long and Shawn Lauvao have been placed on injured reserve and will both miss the remainder of the 2017 season. Long, the team’s center, has been battling knee and quad injuries over the last few weeks and requires surgery, while Lauvao, the team’s left guard, has been shut down for the season due to a neck injury.
  • In terms of numbers, Long had actually been the team’s best performer in pass protection this year, and has allowed just five total pressures on his 223 pass-blocking snaps, for a pass-blocking efficiency of 98.2, the 10th best mark among centers. While Long will be missed, the Redskins seem to have a solid enough replacement in Chase Roullier, who has been filling in for Long since Week 7. In those five games, Roullier has allowed five pressures on his 181 pass-blocking snaps, for a pass-blocking efficiency of 97.9, 11th best among centers in that span.

Our 6th and a 3rd rounder is all it should really take. Maybe a sweetener like you suggested. The trade chart does not dictate that Macc throw in either of our 2nd round picks and macc has shown to be frugal so i don't expect him to vastly overpay to get a player that could drop to us at 6 especially when we can also deal with the Browns at 4 who would have likely already drafted their QB with #1 overall.

Good write up on Long. Highly regarded by Redskins fans for what it's worth. May be a better option for a zone blocking scheme than Jensen.  https://www.hogshaven.com/2018/2/8/16990266/should-the-redskins-re-sign-spencer-long-at-center

I preferred Jensen, but I guess if Long's a better scheme fit that makes sense.

The draft chart is irrelevant when it comes to QBs. It will cost way more than a 3rd.
