Kristian Dyer of Metro is reporting that the Jets have interest in former Cleveland Browns and Indianapolis Colts defensive end/outside linebacker Barkevious Mingo.

Mingo is also on the radar of the Seattle Seahawks who are the front-runners for his services according to Dyer, who says at least “a half-dozen teams” are showing some level of interest.

In five pro seasons, Mingo is credited with 9 sacks primarily as a pass-rush specialist in 78 games (23 starts).

Except this past Superbowl

I think that's an old school saying at this point.  We're in the arena league era now.  Offense wins championships.

Can anyone think of a Top 10 pick who appeared to be a bust after 5 years that went on to have a successful career?

Alex Smith kind of screams out off the top of my head.

Robert Gallery also, once they moved him to guard, though he wasn't 5 years busting at LT.

Ted Ginn was a starting WR for the Saints even last year. No one saw that coming after his first 5.

maybe Bradford

you could make an argument for Claiborne after last year

Really good question, though. I had to look up a couple of these like Ginn.

Ginn is a good one -- I think half the TDs he scored in his first 3 seasons were against us.  Gallery was ok early on -- not what you want out of a top 3 pick, but I am not sure I would consider him a bust to the same degree as Mingo.

Smith/Bradford -- QBs are a little different.  They usually have a steep learning curve and long careers, so its not unusual for a QB to start slowly.

Claiborne -- maybe.  Have to see where his career goes from here.

Aaron Maybin is a very good painter.....does that count??

I guess I didn't specify a football career.  So it is hard to argue with this one, although Maybin did not go Top 10.  But I am pretty sure he is far and away the highest ranked artist from the 2009 first round.
