Scenarios for Gints to trade out of two to another QB needy team

We are sitting pretty; follow me.  Right now, you've got three teams that might want that number 2 pick.  The Broncos, The Bills, The Dolphins.

1) I'll eliminate the Dolphins because I don't think they have the ammo to do it.

2) The Bills would have to make two trades to get there. Why?  Because I don't think the Gints want to fall to worse than 5 or 6 in this draft, if they were to fall-back at all.  The Colts aren't moving down again, they are going to let the non-QBs from Chubb, Barkley, and Nelson fall to them. And the Gints are thinking the same if their intent is not to take a QB.   As to the 5th pick---You'd be asking the Broncos to trade back to 12 when the Broncos could likely stay where they are and get the 3rd or 4th QB or one of the top non QBs.  They'd be giving up a premium player, and still, the Bills would then have to jump ahead of the Jets to 2.  The Bills have picks, but realistically not enough to go up to higher than 4 or 5.  As to the Browns, they have so many picks over the last few years, that stockpiling more doesn't make much sense, when they will get a QB and one of Barkley, Chubb, or Nelson.  It's possible, but then again, I don't see another trade-up possible for the Bills after that.

3) The Broncos are the most realistic trade-up to 2, if they want to do it.  But they've just spent $25m guaranteed on Keenum and they are a win-now team.  And they probably get their choice of 2 of the top 4 QBs if they sit tight (and Barkley goes top 3), or one of the top non-QBs.  But, if they have conviction (for Allen or Mayfield), they have the potential to do this deal, and the Gints would probably still get Barkley or Nelson at 5.  So, it's the Broncos that bear the most watching here.

In the end, I'd be surprised if there is more movement in the top 4.  My gut is that the Browns and Gints will make their picks.  And that if one of the remaining QBs falls to 7 (the Bucs), there might be a war between Miami, Arizona, and the Bills to move up.

I think we're safe at #3 from the others. I do expect movement outside of the top 3 though, most likely Buffalo taking a guy at 4 or 6. I don't see the Broncos as likely candidates due to the fact they have a Solid QB, and a win-now roster. In that situation you take BPA, which could be Chubb or Nelson.

True, but I think they are pretty stuck at 2, and it is quite possible they don't want a QB.  While it may likely go QB-QB-QB (and that's what I think will happen), I am also glad the Fins and the Bills will likely be picking behind us.  And I still think Allen will be off the board with one of those two picks.

Giants trading out of pick 2 instead of staying put and drafting Barkley or Nelson (if their intent isn’t to pick a QB), to a team like the Broncos or Bills is a doomsday scenario. I’d have to imagine Mac likes his 3rd option just in case this does happen, but I’d definitely prefer it not to. It’s unlikely this happens but we’ll see. Can’t wait to see who we wind up taking.

I highly doubt we would've made this move if we thought we were getting the 3rd best QB.

It’s very possible Mac’s board is Rosen/darnold/Barkley. He wants the darnold or Rosen obviously, but he may not be sold on Allen. Goes back to his BPA and Barkley is #1 in that dept

i dont agree, i think there is every chance that the jets think this is a 3 player draft...Darnold, Rosen and Allen. Mayfield is a nice thought, but i cant see him being picked at 3 and brought into a team that plays in the elements.

If Macc traded pick #6 and 3 2’s to move up 3 spots and drafts a RB I’ll go apoplectic. This team is not one RB, no matter how good he is, from contending for anything. This team has so many holes the only reason you trade draft capital is for a QB.

The doomsday scenario is if Gettleman when he’s on the clock tries to get cute and coerce a DP out of Macc saying Denver is on the other line...that’s when we’ll find out if Macc likes all the QBs ‘kinda’ equally or not. I sincerely doubt the Giants have any desire to trade back with Buffalo at 12 at this point, but a potential trade down to only 5 with Denver might make Macc sphincter tighten just a little bit.

We’ll see

Giants GM Dave Gettleman to @KimJonesSports on the draft's #2 slot and whether there’s a win-now philosophy with Eli: "You have to say to yourself: 'Can you picture this guy putting on a gold jacket?’ You can't make a mistake. You just can't."

that’s what I would tell cleveland if I was macc. make them cough up a 4th to swap picks 3 & 4 if they draft a QB #1

Hard for me to believe the Giants trade out of their spot.

They addressed their biggest need at LT in FA and can continue to fill in the line with vets and mid round guys.

Two huge needs staring them right in the face with the QB depth and ridiculous talent in Barkley. To ever be this high in the draft again with this situation is slim to none (unless you’re CLE).

No way they reach for Nelson at 2. If they want Nelson they will trade back with Denver and still get him no problem.

He’s not a reach. And who’s to say Cleveland wouldn’t take Nelson at 4.

To complete this as a perfect scenario for the Jets hopefully the Browns cut a deal with the Giants for the 2nd pick then the Jets are guaranteed Rosen, or Darnold!

was just thinking that too! They have the picks to move up. Has any team ever had both the 1 and 2 picks in a draft before?

The scenario for the other "quarterback needy" teams isn't a move up to grab one of the Top 2 or 3 QBs, it's how do they get in position get the 4th, 5th or 6th QB.  That's the game for Buffalo, Miami, Arizona, etc.  They're now potentially in competition for Lamar Jackson, Rudolph or whoever isn't Top 3 (likely Allen or Mayfield).

If had to bet I'd say that Darnold, Rosen and Mayfield are all gone in the Top 5.  After that the clamoring begins to get into the Top 10 for Allen, Jackson, etc.  Chicago would be a nice trade partner for Buffalo at #8.  Chicago has its QB (or they think they do) and the could accumulate picks by sliding just 4 spots.

No, it is not. The move up was for a QB. They like Rosen, Darnold and Allen and would be happy with any of them.

This is an easy scenario to believe. The Browns can set Darnold up like Dak was in Dallas. Barkley takes the heat off of the young QB. Remember to that the Browns have almost too many picks (Jets should be keeping an eye on the Browns cuts in camp, could find a sleeper). Why would the Giants not trade back just 2 picks, actually missing 1 player, for more draft capital! Giants move back & now they take Nelson at 4 to solidify the Guard spot for 15 years, add another pick for a Center in the 2nd round like Price or Daniels! Game back on for the Giants with Solder- Nelson- Price or Daniels. Now they can also draft Guice, Michel, Chubb. Giants are in the sweet spot if Browns want Darnold & Barkley to send their fans to the ticket offices!

Could you imagine Jet fan jubilation with a one two punch of Darnold & Barkley! Holy sh*t!

I don't see why the Giants would want to move down during a QB rich draft when Eli is basically a year off from leaving this team and it's not often that we see a draft with 3 QB's that have unique skillsets that could produce in the NFL and the Giants are sitting at the 2nd pick.

Why would they pass on a QB? Im not saying that they cant, but it should also be assumed that they Giants are also in the market for a QB.

I have a strong feeling that picks 1, 2 and 3 will be QB's with possibly pick 5 possibly being a QB as well.
