Video of Rich Cimini stating its Darnold, Rosen, or Josh Allen at pick #3

It's hard to figure out the consensus on this board sometimes, but it sure feels like we're all in agreement that we should be scared to death of Allen...

I'm no expert but he's not even in my top 4! I have Mayfield and Rudolph both ahead of him.

Watched some Allen video, caught like one game during the season so small sample size but...it is hard to figure out just what exactly he is.  Definitely has a cannon, but Wyoming's OL was so bad he was constantly throwing on the run, never had time to stand in the pocket, always under pressure etc.  Was like watching a pick up game sometimes.  He can evade the rush fairly well and he's a big dude lol...just wished there was more video where he actually had a pocket to stand in and throw.  I wonder if part of his 'poor' (comparatively) comp% was due to this.

I can see why people see he has promise, but I'd hate to be a Scout staking my rep on the dude.

If Josh Allen is the pick, then this trade will have been a waste.  Allen would be there at 6.  If I were a Jets fan, I would hope that Cleveland save you all from yourselves at takes Allen at 1.  Mayfield is the one QB who is going to be ready to go day 1.  He's had a billion reps in college, got better every season, had a high completion pct, has moxie....truly a NY kind of charachter....and the Jets will probably be sitting there at 3 with him on the board...and they will say...eh....Mayfield is only 6ft tall....let's take bubba from Wyoming.

And Allen could go to 6. He or baker.

Had just started a crowd sourced mock draft on another forum. I picked for the Jets about five hours before the trade was made. I took Allen at #6. I wasn't happy about it and I would be less happy if the Jets traded up to #3 to pick him. I hope it is Mayfield but I think whichever we take, that's the one with the highest likelihood of busting because that's what happens to Jets quarterbacks.

I have to disagree with Cimini. Macc made this deal with the Colts after he was at Rosen and Mayfield's Pro Days. So you would think He saw something he liked at one or both of them to insure he had the opportunity to get one of them. If he didn't like what he saw at one or both of those Pro Days he probably doesn't trade up so quickly if at all. Cimini is just blowing smoke as usual.

The reason for the trade is obvious and it comes down to three things.  First, the Jet FO realizes that they need to draft a QB in this year's QB rich draft.  It is also based on there being 4 QBs that are sure fire early first round picks - Darnold, Rosed, Mayfield, and Allen. Second, it was quite possible that at 6, the Jets would not have an opportunity to draft any of the four. Buffalo was obviously loading up for a trade into the top 4.  That means that QBs could have gone to Cleveland, NYG, Buffalo and Denver, leaving the Jets with none of the four. Third, Mac must be happy with at least 3 of the top 4 QBs to move to pick 3, assuring that the Jets draft one of these three QBs.  So the trade was made so the Jets can guarantee they have a shot to pick one of the top three QBs in the draft and avoids losing the game of QB musical chairs with no QB left at 6.

I too hope that the Jets #2 or #3 QB of the four is not Allen.  I would be happy with Mayfield at #3 compared to being shut out.  There is no guarantee any of the four would be there at 6.  I would be happier if the Giants take Barkley at 2 and the Jets get Rosen or Darnold at 3, depending on what Cleveland does at 1 (Allen or Darnold).  If Allen is the Jets pick at 3, I just hope the FO knows more about QBs than I do.  And we have to pull for him. None of this BS about wanting to be right instead of wanting the Jets FO to have made the right decision.

Well...you didn't get Allen.....you got Darnold....At least you didn't get Allen.  There's still a chance Darnold developes, but "The Man" in this draft was Mayfield....as I projected.  Cleveland didn't screw it up this time.
