The ultimate smokescreen

So, let's turn to the QB workout that noone is talking about;  the Jets will have at least one minicamp I believe before the draft, at which time they'll get a close look at Bridgewater.  What if he lights it up?  What if his work-out is better than they say from the 4 QBs?  Does Saquon become a real option at 3? We're assuming that they are for real moving up for the QB,  But Bridgewater is the wildcard.

My gut is they are taking a QB regardless, but I think it is worth playing up the Bridgewater minicamp.  If the Browns or the Gints think the Jets might actually take Barkley, then perhaps the Gints flinch or the Browns move up from 4 to get him.  Leaving us 3 QBs to choose from.

Am hoping we see a lot of articles speculating that the Jets may actually be considering Barkley!

Mac would be hung from the rafters if he didn't select a QB at #3.

Yes we would.  If Teddy turns out to still be legit one thing we may be able to do is maybe get a mod rounder for him in the middle of the season? Providing our rookie QB is playing reasonable football.

Definitely a possibility. More importantly, Jets need to have others think that it is a possibility. If Browns and Giants go QB, the Browns will stay put if they think the Jets 'obviously' are taking a QB. However, if there is an inkling that the Jets may go RB after 2 QBs are taken 1&2 then the Browns may be interested in trading down one spot with the Jets to land Barkley. Jets could then recoup a draft pick in this years draft.

yes!  for other posters, the smokescreen is to convince the Browns that the Jets might actually take Saquon, if the Gints don't.  Probably won't work, as I agree that you don't sell the farm for a RB in this league anymore.  RB's are used by committee nowadays, and  on average, have shorter and more injury-plagued careers.  So you go RB in rounds 3 or 4 nowadays.

if we still had a high second then maybe, but you can't trade up to #3 for a RB with no backup plan at QB, regardless of how good Teddy looks there is risk of injury until he plays well for a few full seasons

I think it would be great to have Barkley on the Jets, especially since he is a fan :)  but let's not forget the Buckeyes defense held him to about 50 yards in a very big game last year so it's not a "can't miss" selection... none of them are, upside of the QB is a game changer

so the plan is to play up the dysfunction of our teams ownership/current regime??

we're talking smokescreens.  And effective ones.  Bridgewater is lighting up, don't assume the Jets are going QB, yada yada.

no, doesn't matter. The fanbase isn't privy to the workout, and wouldn't be won over on Teddy until dec' 2018 & promise of playoffs -- Macc wouldn't make out of April. He dug himself this hole, and now he's buying large to get out.

Right now, I don't care. Give me my Quarterback.
