Future Cap Room

OTC is showing we could have over 100 million in cap room next offseason.  Say we get Rosen, and his future looks bright here...this team just became a hot spot to come to with potential.  Could be a very good sell point.  Anyone have any idea what WRs are coming into contract years?  One can be optimistic about the future right?

I guess the biggest WRs could be (as of today): and I am sure most don't reach FA

Odell Beckham Jr

Kelvin Benjamin

Jarvis Landry

Tyrell Williams

Devin Funchess

Josh Gordon

Martavis Bryant

Stefon Diggs

That's why trading all those picks are ok. We have a young cheap team with plenty of cap space an a GM that is good at finding bargains without committing to big numbers in future years.

Of course that all means nothing if he can't find the right QB.

Once the QB is in I am perfectly fine with paying stud money to studs, particularly while the QB is young and cheap.

It was 120 before they signed people this year.  You have to subtract the hits for anyone that just signed for 2+ years.

I think this is post signings

Correct.

Per overthecap.com, we have $118M in projected cap space next season even after our recent signings:  https://overthecap.com/salary-cap/new-york-jets

I heard even 120 million. We are still going to be rolling in dough next year and we still have 38 million now(and that’s with the rookie money accounted for.)

I thought we have a hellava lot more than $38 mil now.

And this is why while wanted Cousins here I am glad he didn't come here!

I don't want guys here who don't want to be here and the Jets with proper management and a real plan can be a truly competitive team for a decade or more it really is up to them.

Jim Harbaugh’d that for you.

Is this a banable offense? It’s right there next to blasphemy.

Gordon and Diggs. Wouldn’t mind either. Mac needs to roll out the red carpet next year if he wants to stay here.

Big Cat will want to get paid after rookie deal over. The Oline definitely will need an entire upgrade next yr. Going cost us in FA since we don’t have many premium picks

He better step up if he wants a payday.  So far he's about average.

Josh Gordon = Low guarantee

Cooper = inflated salary n guarantee.

A more realistic scenario, if the offense does well and Bowles continues to be Bowles, is John Harbough.

John  Harbough has been hamstrung in Baltimore because he has never found a good OC to help build the right offense around Flacco.  What we would offer him IF the offense is good and our rookie QB shows enough is a potential franchise QB, a good OC who has already worked with the QB and the ability to come in, choose his own DC and be the coach that we all wish Bowles was.

Would be a great hire and also an opportunity to keep continuity on offense.

Offensive Line and WRs next year.  Has to be....especially if we've finally found a QB.

Or, maybe they're saving it to franchise Teddy Bridgewater. :D

There is unfortunately, no OL slated to be a UFA next year who comes close to how good Norwell is.  Through the long lens, that was a signing I wish we had overpaid to get.  We'd still have almost $30MM in cap this year, plenty next year, and one of the 3 best OGs in the game in front of our shiny, new QB.  Maybe our guys will step it up this year, but I regret missing out on him.

yeah and there is a reason for that lol...one is a stud and the other is a dud

Save for one game, how was Amari last year with a 3 straight year pro bowl QB?

And ones an all-pro. The other is not. Can’t really call him a dud. Off the field is another story, which is why it’ll be a high risk high reward signing with a very low guarantee and not much at stake.

I like Amari too, but only when he’s not dropping passes.

He will go all out this yr like Mo did before he got paid.

I think we will have him under control one more year if we pick up his 5th year option in 2019.  He would not hit FA until 2020.
