So the Giants are waiting to see what Cleveland does with pick 1.  If Browns pass on Darnold, Giants take him.

If Browns select Darnold, then Giants trade down and whichever team moves into his spot drafts Rosen.

Same difference.

I still think we were assuming the top 2 picks will be QBs, this either confirms it or allows another to fall to us. I still think we like at least 3 guys so this can really only be good news. If the Giants trade out it would be the same as if they took a QB anyway unless they are looking to flip picks with us.

There is nothing negative about this report, I'm happy.

Gonna die laughing when Jets pick a non-QB at 3.

The legwork at Pro Days and workouts was for Bowles to confirm what he believed all along: Jets are set at QB with McCown and Bridgewater.

and Hackenberg. Don't forget about Hackenberg. He's the perfect QB3 no one holds a better clip board

It sounds like the Giants' scouting grades on Josh Rosen, Baker Mayfield, and Josh Allen simply aren't high enough for GM Dave Gettleman to consider picking one of the non-Darnold quarterbacks at No. 2. Gettleman has a history of drafting running backs high -- he took Christian McCaffrey eighth overall in Carolina last year -- and he never traded down in any round of the draft during four seasons as Panthers GM. Barring Gettleman disregarding his scouts or reversing course on his historical anti-trade-down stance, Penn State RB Saquon Barkley and NC State DE/OLB Bradley Chubb appear to be co-favorites to go at No. 2.

It would most likely mean Rosen would be there for us to take at 3 if true. That's good because i'm worried we are going to be stuck with Allen or Mayfield and my fear is we'll pass on Mayfield and take Allen.

no.  If Darnold not there, Giants trade down and someone else takes Rosen

Not if the Giants fall in love with a player like Barkley or even Nelson. A lot depends on what the Giants view themselves as. If they believe they can win now they might want to take a player at 2 who can come in and play at a high level right away. Or they could trade the pick for more picks and move down but they could also trade that pick to a team who covets Allen. There's a lot of variables out there right now.

Maybe Barkley, but they will trade down before taking Nelson at 2. THey can trade down with Denver and still get him.

Agreed but that's only if Denver is interested in moving up. If it's a team like Buffalo then the Giants would have to make a tough decision because neither Barkley or Nelson will be there at 12. Barkley wouldn't even be there at 5.

If both Cleveland and the Giants pass on Allen it’ll be very telling if the Jets take him.

Not really.  It just says they had surfer dudes rated higher, as they and we should.

Denver is not moving up for a qb. They are in cap hell and fully committed to Keenum for 2 yrs. they will do their best to support him. They either take Barkley at 5 or trade down for a team desperate for Allen or mayfield

how so?  Giants will probably trade out of #2 and whoever trades in will grab Rosen.

The greatest probability was the Giants take Rosen, if this is, true thats gone. Gettlemen would also have to trade down for the first time as GM, in his first year as GM for a new team. Idk about you but usually people stick to doing what got them there.

Gettleman is too smart to pick a reserve player at 2 Who “ May be good “

What makes you think the Giants want to trade that pick?  They already have quite a few picks as is.  Nothing in Gettleman's history indicate he's the type of GM.  Moves they've made this offseason indicate they are still trying to compete this year.

I understand the worry because things just never work out well for the Jets, but there is nothing to suggest the Giants would want to do that.

Yes, but... how many times has Gettleman been in a position to trade down from the top-5 to another spot in the top-5, while adding premium  draft picks?

Gentleman is old school and knows to build from the big bodies out.

Chubb seems like a no-brainer for them.

I agree.  He's also seen it first hand in the Giants organization that you can win with a QB that isn't elite if you have the horses on the front 4.

The thing I don't understand is the logic that the Giants should trade out to stockpile all these picks because they have all these holes, but the Broncos should sell all their picks to move up 3 spots and ignore all their holes?
