Interesting comment with the "we didn't really talk to" the Giants about the #2 pick. Yet they're not totally locked into #3 spot. Hmmmmm

If Macc can head fake Browns with a feint for Barkley, who they lust after for #4, and get some cream to move down a spot, then he gets mad props.

If he had a chance to get the number one overall pick and his choice of QB and didn’t pull the trigger because of a 2019 first rounder, then he has to nail whomever he picks at 3 to be a franchise QB and that player will forever be compared to the QB taken at #1. He’s staking his job on the 3rd best QB in this class and I’m not sure that’s the move to make considering he’s made so many missteps in his first three seasons. Guess he only grew one ball and it’s tiny and shriveled.

Or because the convo went something like this...

Mac: Hi Dave, this is Mike with the Jet...

Dave: No.

Or, more likely, "not yet." Jints likely to get max value for the pick when they are on the clock. That's when I expect them to make the deal.

lol way to make a huge assumption.

Most interesting tidbit is that he talked to Browns (like we knew) but confirms he didn't talk to Giants... Clearly feels like a "Giants and Jets simply don't trade with each other" thing because there's no other reason that makes sense. Too bad.

I have a neighbor I wouldn’t lend my tools to.

True. And maybe "get closer and maybe we'll talk". So thats why he's saying he's not locked into 3.

Oh look, confirmation the Jets didn't talk to the Giants.

Oh look, people still looking for more complicated explanations than reality:  i.e. Giants won't trade with jets nor be seen to help the Jets.

So what's the "not locked into 3" mean? Just throwing around random comments? Even though they can't move any higher?

We still have a #1 next year, and a few other picks.

We haven't completely blown the load yet.

They could also move down with Browns if Macc sells them on the seriousness of going Barkley. It's a win/win. I expect a "leak" saying Jets seriously considering Barkly. If Browns get spooked and take him at 1, an additional QB on the board. if they go QB, maybe can move down if they believe it.

It means if the draft goes utterly sideways, and they decide they really don't want to draft Player X at three, they can always trade down.

You think he's talking about trading up?  To a Giants team he didn't even bother to present the deal he gave to Indy?

I just can't see that ever working lol. I said before if I were the Browns id say "go ahead and draft him" "well enjoy Darnold...good luck".

I almost wish they swapped with the Giants just to spite you Fish. I hate how you're so confident about this lol.

Gettleman doesn't care about Jets. He has to realize he get move down to 3 and get who he wants. Just waiting for the moment to maximize value. Would be shocked if they don't move down (maybe even lower than 3) and get their guard or Barkley later. Bills scare me here.

Assuming this means that Darnold is going #1?

And it not, word is he is the only QB the Giants would take at 2. Perhaps the Giants are waiting to discuss trades for the #2 until after the Browns pick just in case those silly Browns take a player other than Darnold.

Maybe they didn't talk to the giants bc they have Rosen and Allen even.

Or Rosen and Mayfield even

Or Mayfield and Allen even

Or they feel pretty confident that the Giants are not taking a QB and will not be trading out of #2

Or Mac just doesn't have the Giants' phone number

Or could it mean he'd move lower ?

I do believe that if Rosen and Darnold are no longer available the Jets will shop the pick because spending a #3 on Mayfiled, Allen or Jackson is a stretch. I could even see them selecting Chubb and using next years #1 + some to trade back into the first round to get a QB.
