Jets daily draft nugget: Since 1996, the Jets have drafted 57 skill-position players on offense, and the only one to make a Pro Bowl in a Jets uniform is WR Keyshawn Johnson (No. 1 overall pick in 1996). Two picks, WR Santana Moss and WR Laveranues Coles, made the Pro Bowl with Washington. RB Leon Washington made it as a kick returner. (Note: A new nugget will be posted every day until the draft.)

Jets daily draft nugget: Mike Maccagnan has made 22 draft selections since becoming the GM. Of the 22, only one player no longer is with the team — G Jarvis Harrison, a fifth-round pick from Texas A&M in 2015. The three drafts have netted six starters — Leo Williams, Darron Lee, Jordan Jenkins, Marcus Maye and Jamal Adams on defense and Brandon Shell on offense.

Jets daily draft nugget: The 2000 draft is arguably the best in team history. Their top five picks played a combined 785 games — DE Shaun Ellis, LB John Abraham, QB Chad Pennington, TE Anthony Becht and WR Laveranues Coles. The draft included an unprecedented four first-round picks. Contract specialist Mike Tannenbaum managed to get all four contracts done before training camp. This was before the rookie wage scale. His reward from boss Bill Parcells — a bucket of wings from Hooters.

Jets daily draft nugget: Since 2012, only one draft pick has received a second contract from the Jets — G Brian Winters, a third-round pick in 2013. Is this a case of bad drafting or a situation where they let good players walk? It's the former. Only one pick has received a multi-year contract from another team — LB Demario Davis (Browns and Saints).

This feels like a very, very bad analysis.  For one thing, almost no players drafted after 2014 would have gotten multi-year contracts and even the 2014 guys are mostly going to be on their option years unless they are studs.  So let's look at 2012-2014 for another team (I had time for one, so I picked PIT, who is usually seen as a good drafting team).

2012: David Decastro got a 2nd contract - multi-year.  Kelvin Beachum is a Jet now with same.

2013: Landry Jones got a 2-year renewal for low money.  As we know, Leveon Bell hasn't gotten his yet.

I think that's it.  1 big contract renewal for PIT.  1 more with the Jets, and a third one that was a cheap 2-year deal.  Not a big difference there (although in fairness, I could easily have missed one or two more).

Not that I'd expect any more from ESPN.  Just caveat emptor with their crap.

Jets daily draft nugget: There have been 25 instances in the common draft era (since 1967) in which a team traded up in the first round (or into the first round) to pick a quarterback. The Jets have done it only once (Mark Sanchez, 2009). Barring a major upset, this year will be the second time. In recent years, other teams have found mixed results. Some worked out (Carson Wentz, Jared Goff) and others didn't (Paxton Lynch, Johnny Manziel and Robert Griffin III).

Jets daily draft nugget: They haven't used a first-round pick on an offensive player since QB Mark Sanchez in 2009 — the longest such streak in the league. Their picks since then: CB Kyle Wilson (out of the league), DE Muhammad Wilkerson (Packers), DE Quinton Coples (out), CB Dee Milliner (out), DT Sheldon Richardson (Vikings), S Calvin Pryor (out), DE Leonard Williams, LB Darron Lee and S Jamal Adams. The streak ends on April 26.

One offensive starter out of the 3 Drafts.....and it's a Right Tackle.  THAT right there is the problem on offense.  Hopefully Jordan Leggett shows something this year and can grow into a TE1 (questionable).  And let's all pray that they get this QB pick right at #3 this year.  I also wouldn't mind seeing them take a good zone-blocking OG prospect in the 3rd round.

5 guys played 785 games in the NFL?

IMPRESSIVE!

Actually, at first I thought it wasn't really statistically possible, but each guy averaging about 160 games, and the seasons now being 16 games long, means 5 players with 10 year careers, at least, and not much injury.

That is pretty impressive, for one team, one draft.

IMO in an offense driven league this speaks of incompetence.

Jets daily draft nugget: Mike Maccagnan's three-year track record shows a strong preference for big-school players. Of the GM's 22 selections, only four came from schools not in a power-5 conference — none in the first four rounds. He'd break that trend if he picks Wyoming QB Josh Allen at No. 3. In case you're wondering, the four small-school players are LB Dylan Donahue (West Georgia), RB Eli McGuire (Louisiana-Lafayette), P Lachlan Edwards (Sam Houston State) and DT Deon Simon (Northwestern State).

Jets daily draft nugget: In 1985, they were so happy to get WR Al Toon with the 10th pick that they ran their card up to the podium, using only a few seconds of the draft clock. The Jets didn't blow the pick, as Toon is a member of the Jets' Ring of Honor. But he wasn't as good as the receiver drafted six spots after him — Jerry Rice.

Jets daily draft nugget: Since 2000, they have picked 11 quarterbacks, which is more than the Browns, believe it or not. The Jets' 11, in order: Chad Pennington, Brooks Bollinger, Brad Smith (played WR), Kellen Clemens, Erik Ainge, Mark Sanchez, Greg McElroy, Geno Smith, Tajh Boyd, Bryce Petty and Christian Hackenberg. The Browns have picked nine, including three in the first round. The Jets have had two first rounders — Pennington and Sanchez.

Jets daily draft nugget: By the time the week is over, they will have hosted at least three of the top quarterback prospects at their New Jersey facility: Baker Mayfield, Josh Rosen and Sam Darnold. Per TheMMQB, Darnold was a late addition to the Jets' list of top 30 visits. What does that mean? It means they may think Darnold no longer is a lock to go No. 1 overall to the Browns. It also could mean they're interested in trading up for him.

Jets daily draft nugget: Former personnel director Mike Hickey took a lot of heat for his unpopular (bizarre?) picks in the 1980s, but he uncovered three quality defensive linemen in his final draft, 1989. Jeff Lageman (first round), Dennis Byrd (second) and Marvin Washington (sixth) combined for 334 games played and 110.5 sacks. The numbers would've been higher, but Byrd's promising career was cut short by a broken neck in 1992.

But sometimes you have to keep adding new layers as each one gets pulled down to Davey Jones' locker by the previous depth charge.
