Report: Ealy set to Meet Cowboys

Kony Ealy

Jets fans hoping for the eventual return of free agent defensive end Kony Ealy may not be happy to hear it, but it looks as if the defensive lineman has a  meeting set up that could lead to his eventual departure according to NFL insider Ian Rapoport.

The good news for Gang Green is that Rapoport also claims Ealy has kept in touch with the Jets over the past few weeks, meaning there is likely a mutual interest at this point.

Added to the team’s 53-man roster after being let go by the Patriots last season, Ealy turned in an impressive 2017 campaign, picking up 9 batted passes at the line of scrimmage to go along with one sack and an interception.

Agree 3000 times man. Those all white uniforms are gorgeous.

I love the all-whites, but replace the helmet logo with a green version of the 80's Jets logo. That would be the best-looking uniform in the league, hands down.

Mac cannot be so stupid as to let Ealy go? Look, Ealy may not be a great player, but he's definitely a decent player. Our DL has already been pretty much raped over the last two seasons. If Mac leaves Leonard Williams to his own devices with a lot of JAG's manning the spots? You're going to see how quick our run defense goes to sh*t. You might think Darron Lee isn't much of a player? If you do, just wait and see what happens if Ealy ends up leaving? Lee DEPENDS on the DL keeping him free of blockers. He's simply way too small to shed blocks on his own. He MUST have good DL play or else he becomes completely ineffective. Allowing Ealy to leave will render out entire front 7 useless. Do you honestly think Bowles is a talented enough HC to coach up a bunch of JAG's to fill those spots satisfactorily?

Yes! That would be infinitely better than any in the league imo. Players would sign up to be here jus for a crack at looking that good in our uniforms.?

i’m apart of the crowd that thinks not only should we go back to the old logo but that we need to. Let’s usher in a new era correctly. Wipe the slate clean and look clean doing it.

.....you think Leonard Williams is too small at 6’5 and 295? His specialty is power rushing..he’s strong as sh*t and can throw players to the side with ease.

Not understanding this to be quite honest.

Obviously not. Read the post a little closer....

No, no, I read it in it’s entirety...Leo doesn’t solely need DL teammates to “free blockers” for him to be effective. Does it help? Duh..it helps any DL player....but to say “or he is completely ineffective” is laughable at best.

you have to come up with a better reason for us to keep another rotation player that doesn’t even take up space in the way that you are claiming he does.

Ealy is a finesse DE who is athletic enough to move around and slap passes down or swim move passed his guy and while I want him back for rotational depth...him signing isn’t as “major” as you are making it.

If you wanted to make claims like that, say Leo needs a NT that can clog up the middle. Ealy doesn’t do what you are suggesting we need him back to do..

I can see reading comprehension just isn't your strong suit. is it? I was referring to Lee. You know the UNDERSIZED linebacker Mac drafted in 2016????????????

There was a reason why they offered Suh a contract. On a one year he was a short term solution because they don't have anyone else.

This is the classic Macc approach of having a set budget for a player at a particular position.  He did this with ASJ and let him walk for $10M over two years to the Jaguars while not wanting to go past $8M.  I admire this approach.

I'm not sure if the Jets have made their BAFO to Ealy yet but if he comes back and says the Cowboys offered me X and I'm going to sign, I think Macc might offer X + 5%.

Let's also be real here.  The Jets, while in a 3-4, are looking to start Leo Williams and a likely platoon of 3 JAGS at the other spot.  We're not blowing the budget on rotational guys who would be pure backups in most other years when the Jets had Wilkerson, Richardson, etc.  JMHO.

As a BK/NJ transplant living on the beach in Alabama working as a restaurant manager,  I would love to know why you lousy pricks refuse to tip, are rude as ****,  and I have to hear about it from my staff. The floor is yours.

PS: Louisiana has you beat though. Those loud mouths wouldn't last 5 minutes up north.

Kony Ealy ain't a DLman that is concerned with keeping OLmen off of Darron Lee...he's more an edge rusher or 4-3 DE, not a true DE in a 3-4 which was what he was last year.

There was a reason they wanted Suh for a moment...he'd keep people off of Lee.

From what I have seen in my 14 years or so living here, most people are super kind and polite. I was born in BKYN, NY and NY people are extremely rude compared to the people here.

dunno bout the tips.. but people wave to you when they drive by, people hold doors, they stop and ask if you need help when you are broke down, people pull over and show respect if a funeral is coming through. Just has a real “feel good vibe” to the state in certain aspects. We do what we can to help each other out..with the exception of a few pricks of course.

only bad thing about MS is no public transportation and a lot of crystal meth.

Same here...it’s taken so many of my friends and loved ones. It’s probably the worst drug I have ever come across...not only that but very little even know how much of an epidemic it really is in the south.

He wasn’t even a JAG. 1 sack the entire season?  Let the cowboys have him

Disappointed in you. There are more things to look at than just sacks. He was 2nd in the NFL in passes batted down. Plus the QB pressures he accounted for. That's why I say :

RESIGN KONY EALY !

The South has the nicest, friendliest people in the country IMHO. When they sat " Ya'll have a nice day" they really mean it.

Quite correct. Ealy is much better suited in a 4-3 DE. That's why I was surprised when NE signed him. Not the greatest fit.
