While players targeted in the first round of the NFL draft garner the majority of the coverage leading up to the event, sometimes it’s the long shot late-round pick, or sometimes the undrafted free agent diamond in the rough who allows teams to find real value.

In trying to unearth such prospects, NFL clubs annually hold a local day in which they can interview and work out players within a specific distance from their facility.

According to one insider, one name worth watching will be defensive end Ebenezer Ogundeko of Tennessee State.

Kristian Dyer of Metro is reporting that Ogundeko, a highly touted prospect from Brooklyn who spent time at Clemson, will be at the Jets facility in Florham Park for their local day.

According to Dyer, Ogundeko was dismissed from Clemson following the fraudulent use of a credit card.  During his time at Tennessee State, Ogundeko piled up 138 tackles and 14.5 sacks.

Interesting.  95% of the time these things don't pan out but this guy certainly has had some eye-opening moments.  Four tackles in four snaps?  Five sacks in 9 games?

Let's hope some maturity has taken hold and we find a 23 year old diamond in the rough.

Kids got some game. Credit cradle fraud is a lot less major than what most guys who get into trouble come up with. He didn’t beat a female, he didn’t rob a store, he didn’t get drunk or high and he didn’t tell a cop he was going to spray his wife in her eye....

Lets see what he can do? I’m all for it.

it is also interesting b/c they worked out calloway of florida.  we'll see how many of these guys they draft after cleansing the locker room.

They believe they can change guys. They have publicly announced their support for Anderson and Donahue despite also tagging that statement with “not having infinite patience”(which was the right thing to say.) Maybe they can get a few diamonds in the rough with an attitude adjustment or two.

Actually depending on the details, credit card fraud can be a much more serious charge than any of those you mentioned (except Robbery).  Just sayin..

Absolutely can..here’s where it matter less to me though. Will he be a repeat offender if he has his own big NFL salary coming in?

it just seems like one of those things to me where it only happens if you are trying to get money that you don’t have. He will have a $$$ coming in and will probably never hurt for it again if he shows up and shows out.

Did he do anything that will probably be repeated once he gets an NFL salary?

The red flaggers ultimately disappoint. For instance, Robby Anderson. Not long ago I thought we were blessed to have him. Complete zero, can't build teams with bad guys.

He was a college kid who was in school because of his football skills, not some arch-criminal mastermind.

no harm in bringing the guy in for a look. these guys are long shots but considering that ealy hasn't been re-signed yet means they need to start finding guys who can pressure the passer.

RESIGN KONY EALY !

I don't have any particular problem with having this kid in for a look, but they can't even get their team leaders to come to meetings on time.

I think that the influence Demario Davis brought as a "team leader" and good guy is going to be missed. Also, there is a difference between getting guys you have help and taking on more reclamation projects.

Honestly if he was ever ateam leader, he would be there on time anyway. Guy is a grown ass man and a professional at that..really can’t and shouldn’t have to try and get guys on time.

And that’s why he is gone now.
