Rich Cimini and Brian Costello also believe Jets take Mayfield over Rosen

This was unheard of a couple months ago. Either the the Jets are doing a phenomenal job tricking the Jets beat reporters and in the process ruining their relationship with the guys that cover them every day or they are doing a terrible job covering up their intentions.

It’s called trolling for the sole purpose of clicks, attention ect.

They clearly have reason to think we want Mayfield. The only question is whether they're repeating a BS smokescreen narrative we have out there or if they actually know what we're doing. But it's very clear that it's "well known" the Jets want Mayfield.

Personally I like Mayfield and if Darnold and Rosen go 1-2 that's the obvious choice. But I'd be pretty upset if we went Mayfield over Rosen. Rosen has much higher upside, IMO.

the jets traded up to 3, so you have to assume there are at least 3 qbs they like.  so if you read they like multiple qbs it's probably true.

That's one way to look at it. Another is they want Mayfield and knew he'd be there at 3 but were worried he wouldn't be at 6.

That said, I agree that they like multiple QBs. I'm just beginning to think Mayfield is more likely than I ever would have guessed a few weeks ago.

Again the beat writers are not stupid they know mocking Mayfield to the Jets at 3 riles up the fan base, he is the most loved, and hated QB by the fan base, and will generate the most attention to their stories, they have zero knowledge, they are not even thinking they are purposely putting Mayfield there with zero info, or thought other then this will get the most traffic period.

After thinking about the Giants, and if they stay put to take a QB, and they let Shurmur decide which one based on his offense I’d say Rosen probably doesn’t fit as well as the other 3 do, BUT Rosen is the closest thing to Eli Manning I’ve seen since well Eli Manning, and they can take the Eli designed offense, and just seamlessly transition Rosen over in a year, or 2, what the Giants do will greatly impact the future of the Jets franchise IF the Browns don’t take Mayfield, Allen, or Barkley 1st overall.

We've seen countless sources from the combine and NFL owners meetings stating the Jets really like Mayfield. We even had Bowles of all people praise the guy relentlessly. There's no way the "Jets are interested in Mayfield" narrative is purely click-bait inspired nonsense by the beat writers. The narrative is clearly real and out there. We have no way of knowing whether the narrative is actually true until draft night. But trying to dismiss this as "made up by the beat writers" is ridiculous. Clearly the Jets have been giving people the impression they love Mayfield.

The Jets have been giving the impression they love all 4 QB’s.  Of course it’s  click bait, the Jets beat reporters don’t know how to do anything else.

If they pick Mayfield over Rosen, everyone should be fired. But this is just clueless beat writers trying to stir the pot du jour.

Why should they be fired?  Because their evaluation and research comes to the conclusion that Mayfield is the pick?

It all comes down to whether the Jets are lying or not. Clearly, there is a lot of buzz about the Jets liking Mayfield out there, and undoubtedly, a lot of it is coming from the Jets.

But, of course, that doesn't make any of it true and it certainly doesn't mean that they like Mayfield the most out of the guys who will be available at #3.

Right. That's exactly what I'm saying. The narrative is real and clearly coming, at least to some degree, from the Jets. Whether it's real we won't know for sure until the draft.

The Jets are showing they LOVE Mayfield so that what can actually happen?  Cleveland and NYG are probably not drafting him.  A team trading with the Giants is probably not taking him.  What would a smokescreen accomplish?  If Cleveland takes Darnold whoever wants any of the other QB's need to jump the Jets.  For the 5th pick, teams are not going to trade with Denver until draft night depending on who is there and if Denver doesn't want that QB.

Will be a mistake imo but it's not like I won't get behind or excited about Mayfield.

This is basically how I feel.

I would definitely take Rosen over Mayfield, but it's not like I think we would be screwed with Mayfield.

If the Jets actually want Rosen, the Mayfield smokescreen potentially dissuades a team from trading up with the Giants to get Rosen.  Yes, it's a reach to think it would work but this would be the Jets rationale if true.

If the Jets take Mayfield or Allen over Rosen, I’ll be absolutely shocked and pissed. I’lll root for either and hope for the best....but I don’t see how you pass on Rosen for those two. Even Darnold should be picked after Rosen if team fit wasn’t a factor.

Agree, I think it makes total sense. If they want Rosen (or Allen for that matter) leaking that they want Mayfield could have a team like the Bills thinking they could wait and trade to 4, 5, or 6 instead of giving up what it would take to get to 2.

i think they take mayfield over allen and it's a no brainer for them.  mayfield and rosen are the best fits in their offense, they gave the keys to bates and he has a huge say in who the qb is.

That would be intelligent reasoning, but we are talking about Mac here.. I honestly believe they only like 2 but are hoping to get lucky. The rumors of bills were close to trading for 3 made Mac rush and block them as being a major reason why we offered more. Had it been a non afc east team, maybe Mac doesn’t panic and make that trade.

At least they're finally taking a shot. Winning 3 games last year would have probably been the better route. But you know.

No way, I will be forever greatful Bowles fought tooth and nail like it was the playoffs for losers to get us to 5 wins. Those 2 extra wins will carry us for a lifetime ?

i don't think it had anything to do with what other teams wanted to move up.  after cousins went to minny, chris johnson told mccagnan to get a qb and this was the best way to do it.  they weren't getting to 1 or 2 and they didn't give up next year's #1.  this is considered to be a very strong qb class, it's not as if they traded up to 3 and there's only watson and mahones and they may not even get one of them.

I don’t think Mac trading up was a panic mlve at all. I think he knew, as most of us did that staying put at 6 will leave you with the QB you didn’t want, or no QB all together.

I think the Jets really like 3 of these guys and have a really good feeling one of their top 2 will be there at 3, but will be happy taking their third if they have to.

They moved up to take 1 of the 4 because they feel comfortable with at least 3 QB's, if not all 4.  How that actually looks on their big board, nobody knows.  These mocks certainly create the most buzz because they read the boards and see that Jets fans favor Rosen.

Personally, I dont see how they could pass on Rosen for Mayfield and I'd be pretty pissed in this scenario if we gave up this much draft capital for Mayfield but I'd be pleased and excited because at least they're trying. It would infuriate me in ways I cant express but I'd get behind the pick and hope for the best.

I just really dont see how Mayfield fits the Big Mac mold but who knows...
