Cowboys expected to release WR Dez Bryant today, barring an unexpected last-minute change of heart, per @toddarcher and me. But the plan going into meeting that is now underway was to part ways with Bryant.

Assuming Dez & Jets are able to reach a financial agreement that works for both parties, what do you think?

yes or no?

Nope. He's not a good fit for us right now. We have uncertainty at the QB position right now regardless of who we draft at number 3. We don't need a WR who may or may not have lost a step who can be unmotivated at times coming into an offense that is in transition IMO.

I like the current group of WRs we have right now. I thought Pryor was a good addition because he has something to prove. We don't have anybody who IMO could ruffle the feathers of a young QB by demanding the ball like Dez could. It should stay that way. There may come a time where we need to add a big threat at WR. But it's not right now with this guy.

Yes, yes, 1,000 times yes.  I get that all rookie QB's are supposed to be fragile and should not be paired with lunatics.  But talent trumps everything.  Dez is 29 years old, not dead.  Pair him with Pryor on the outside, get us our QB in the draft, and let's roll.

All depends on term and cost.  Short term?  Yes.

Assuming he and Jets can reach a financial agreement, of course.  Obviously, it wouldn't be a prove it deal... LOL  so it will be for 3-4 years.

No - and I was a HUGE Dez guy. Love his body of work.

Question; Why pass?

Answer; he's not who he used to be. He can't separate, and his body is beginning to break down. I've had him on every fantasy team i've owned. He was drafted in 2010 - and it's 2018. He's not going to play into his mid 30s.

because he wouldn't be coming here and it would end the discussion quickly. He'll get a 3-4 year deal somewhere. Again, the question is if the Jets and Dez reach a mutually acceptable deal, which would likely be for 3-4 years, cause that's what he'll get elsewhere, would you want it?

If he was willing to play for what his actual production on the field, sure. I LOVE Dez, but i'm not paying the price tag of 2014 Dez, which is what he'll be looking for.

The guy can't separate, like at all last year.

We'll see.  If someone else comes along and pays him for past production, no, I can't see him coming here.  But the thread is about if I'd like to see him as a Jet.  Yes, yes I would.

You can't find a guy on this board who has a bigger boner for dominant #1 WRs... I want big alpha dawgs at split end. Been dying for us to draft our own Dez, Calvin, AJ etc etc

And yet, all that love can't turn the clock back 3-4 years on Dez.

this captures it best:

Cowboys released WR Dez Bryant.

The move saves Dallas $12.5 million in cash and clears $8.5 million in cap space. Bryant is entering his age-30 season and has been trending downward for a couple years now. He played all 16 games last season for the first time since 2014 but had his worst statistical season since his rookie year, catching 69 balls for 838 yards and six touchdowns. In total, the 2010 first-rounder caught 73 touchdowns for Dallas and had three-straight 1,000-yard seasons from 2012-2014. Bryant's injury history and lack of adjusting his playing style to compensate for his diminishing skill set likely were the factors that led to his release. Bryant should land on his feet pretty quickly. He's still a big-time red-zone weapon and super-physical after the catch.

you think any of the fall off has to do with a hurt and now retired Romo, because I do. I am not saying he is the top tier WR that he was 4 years ago but I think losing Romo hurt him more than anything. I like Dak but it is not the same.

I agree he is probably closer to done, but I'd do a short term deal for him (with some protective contract language). here are my reasons... Robby may get some type of team suspension just for being a moron, Q - huge question mark we don't know what he is or will be after neck injury, Terelle Pryor more deep threat in my mind and having Dez not need to be a deep threat helps open field for Pryor/Anderson.

I wouldn't have a problem with it, I am not going to fly a banner to sign him either.

The right setting with the right QB - you may get some extra mileage there. I don't disagree.

But i've watched DAL games because i'm a loser who needs to watch all his fantasy players play... Dez is still physical on a jam, and in traffic fighting for the ball, but as a QB  - when i scan the field - he's covered. All the time, covered. Can't separate.

Dez and OBJ.  Draft Barkley.  Eli's last hurrah.  Gettleman might make it happen.

not really - watch his tape from last year.

Watching OUR WRs last year would be more informative.

In before “ Anderson is better than Dez” lol!

I Agree tho he is almost certainly going to another NFC East team. So moot.

Macc could never pull it off anyway.

I get it, I do the same with my fantasy team. I have Zeke so I am not usually watching with much concentration on the WRs or Passing game.

I just saw that he told his teammates he’d “see them twice” next year. Has to be the Redskins.

as long as they don't take a QB I don't care who the Giants draft. We need Rosen or Darnold.
