Lith Posted April 16, 2018 Share Posted April 16, 2018 Just came across this a little while ago. http://www.newyorkjets.com/team/history/1963.html April 15, 1963 was the day that Sonny Werblin decided to change the name of the Titans franchise he acquired a few months earlier. Even though the franchise had been around for 3 seasons, the NY Jets were born 55 years ago today. Which also happened to be the same day that the Jets/Titans hired Weeb Ewbank as Head Coach and General Manager. Franchise changing day -- 55 years ago today.
