Any one of these 4 can be there at 3.  

It's certainly reasonable he's #2 on their board so a solid assumption is he's the guy.

Exactly, most have said Darnold is the #1 guy for us, but most people are under the assumption he's gone by 3.

I don't think that's the case at all. Some people are saying that Mayfield is the pick pretty much regardless of who is on the board - including Darnold. Others are saying they prefer Mayfield to Allen. Everyone is hearing they want Mayfield - not that he's their third option. 

If I'm the franchise I want it leaking out that I want anyone but the guy I want, particularly drafting third with the team one spot ahead potentially an option to move out.

Folks, this is the NFL draft. Normally the Draft doesn't officially start until the 2nd pick because we ALWAYS KNOW who that first team is going to pick before the draft actually starts. 

This isnt hard. We all believe that a QB is a lock for the Browns, and if so then it's most likely Darnold. We also know that for as much at the Giants are trying to trick people off of the trail, the Giants do not prefer to see themselves in the top 2 picking in the draft, so this is a good time to pick a QB. The Jets traded a 1st and three 2nd rounders to move up 3 spots....so we know for sure it's for a QB. 

This wasn't like they stayed at 6 and wasn't sure if any of these QB's were going to drop. It's not as weird when you think about it. This year the draft doesn't officially start until pick 4 in terms of "wondering what direction a team will go with their pick".

At this point, the first pick is far from locked. Started with Darnold hype, now everything is going around Allen.

Same with the 2nd pick. Rumors about Gettleman wanting a gold-jacket, and Saquon is their guy. Also talks of the Joshes.

This is a crapshoot at it's finest.

the prediction is based on who they expect to be available when they pick.  it's not like the jets are sitting at #1 and they can have any qb.  there are many mocks that have allen/darnold gone by #3.  so what all these mockers are saying is that the jets prefer mayfield over rosen, which really is not that much of a bold prediction b/c rosen's stock has taken a hit over the past month while mayfield's has risen.

Of course it's far from locked, we're 9 days away. :-) 

I think the Allen talk are coming from folks who are trying to stir the pot. Josh Allen is not the #1 pick in this years draft. Baker Mayfield (who I think could actually be the pick for the Browns #1) has a better chance of being the top pick than Allen. Josh Allen is a project quarterback, not a guy you take first overall when you have 4 other QB's in Mayfield, Jackson, Darnold and Rosen on the board. 

Traits have a limit, and over drafting because of traits isnt smart. Just look at how we overdrafted Hack last year because of traits. 

You dont do that with the 1st pick of the draft. The Browns are a bad franchise, but they're not ran by stupid people. That would be stupid.

Does anyone else find it strange that so many "experts" and "insiders" are convinced that the Jets are taking Mayfield?  The Jets have been pretty tight lipped during the Mac era so in my personal, non expert opinion, the Jets are in full smoke screen, double agent,  screw everyone and their expert opinion, misinformation mode.

well, many mocks have allen and darnold going 1/2, and you also have mayfield's personal biographer for si.com tweeting that he thinks mayfield is going to the jets.  all this is saying is that people think rosen is more likely to fall, that's it.

McShay is FOS, but there’s a pretty interesting trend developing where the Giants are rumored to trade down, immediately followed by a rumor that the Jets want Mayfield, so HAHA NO NEED TO TRADE UP TO THE GIANTS IF YOU WANT JOSH ALLEN HAHA WE’RE TOTALLY TAKING BAKER MAYFIELD HAHA PLS FEEL FREE TO RELAX
