Dcat
Jets just sent an email that they are ending PDF ticket options. Quote As the Jets and the NFL continue to update ticketing technology, effective for 2018, the NFL has eliminated PDF tickets. The PDF (print at home) option will no longer be available. Therefore, beginning this season mobile tickets and Jets Rewards cards will be the only methods of entry at Jets home games at MetLife Stadium.Ticket management processes, including transferring and reselling, will otherwise remain the same. For more information, please click here. If you have any questions contact your Jets Representative at 800-469-JETS (5387).Thank you! The New York Jets So apparently, they are trying to sabotage re-sales on StubHub. Because the NFL Ticket exchange can create a new bar code directly and StubHub can't, the abscence of a PDF option really puts a dent in the appeal of using stubhub. So how will stubhub get the sold ticket onto the buyer's mobile device? How will the seller get the electronic ticket to StubHub? Pure and simple, this is to pump up Ticket Exchange and make it nearly impossible to use stubHub.
jetstream23
I got the same email today. Very disappointing.

Mike135
Does ticket exchange still not let you sell below face value? If so, there will be many more empty seats. Season ticket holders of teams having bad seasons sell seats for 10 bucks sometimes. No one is paying face value for Dec games for a 5 win team. If they don't enable stubhub transfers, and use technology to basically force fans to use the NFL's in-house option, they're going to be looking at an antitrust suit. So I don't think that'll be an issue

Lot K Tailgaters
I never miss a game but this is still ridiculous. The Yankees do the same thing and I see fans all the time with issues. Lousy signal or a phone battery dying and you will have issues. There are people who sell mobile Yankees tickets on Vivid seats so it can be done. Joe Willie White Shoes
If it limits the ability for fans to sell tickets below face value and limits resales I'm all for it. I have had season tickets since 1981. In the 80's and 90s, maybe 5% of the stadium was filled with fans of the visiting team (because you had to scalp tickets at the game). The past 4-5 years, it has been more like 30-40% or more . I don't go to games to sit next to fans of the opposing team who bought tickets for 10% of the price I paid. A stadium that is only 60-70% filled with Jets fans beats 100% with a third or more filled by visiting fans. The atmosphere at games sucks recently compared to the prior 30 years, even in comparable seasons in terms of wins and losses.

joebabyny
They are doing this for parking too, along with hang tags. This will be a cluster-eff, those guys always have signal problems with their handheld units.
joebabyny
Back in October Stub Hub signed a deal with the NFL, allowing them access to the ticketmaster API to use their system to sell tickets. I don't know if there are price controls with the stub hub listing like there were with ticketmaster. stubhub nfl deal

Lith
I have read elsewhere that there is a general move away from PDF tickets in general. Not sure it is specific to NFL and/or the Jets. Problem being that pdf tickets are too easy to counterfeit. I would think mobile tickets would still be an option to sell tix on stubhub -- by entering barcode from ticket stubhub should be able to transfer mobile ticket to purchaser for use on their phone. I still prefer the idea of having a paper ticket in my hand, but that is becoming less of an option. Pretty sure the Yankees did away with pdf tix a couple of year's ago. joewilly12
So how do you buy a ticket on-line and then get into the stadium, what if someone doesn't have a cell phone. @SAR I
SAR I
I got this email last week. I too was outraged. So I called Stubhub. This is what I found out. Stubhub is entering an exclusive partnership with the NFL, this is happening with all teams, and the Stubhub app will now be the way people who purchase secondhand tickets will get their tickets, via a unique QR code generated upon purchase. They are merely eliminating the PDF option. There will be no change to pricing, listing options, etc. They agree that the Jets should have used better language so as to not confuse season ticket holders. So, it's not a changing of the rules or favoring one service over another. It's just a change to delivery method. Instead of a PC and a home printer, buyers need a smartphone and an app. Stubhub is the same as it was, just smartphone-entry, not printed paper. There are a lot of games that I leave my cell phone in the car. I like just watching the Jets and not worrying about who is texting me, what twitter notifications I am getting etc. Sure when I leave my phone in the car that means I can't check the forums during the game. That part breaks my heart.
Rangers9
So let me get this straight. If I buy a ticket on Stubhub or Vivid and print it out I can't get access. If the ticket is on my phone I get entry. Or does it have to be via their ticket site. The way I read it if via a resale site you can still use a paper ticket. Rangers9
I just texted the Jets. If you go through a third party like Stubhub you can't print out the tickets. But you can use the ticket Stubhub sends you if it has a barcode on your phone. Without downloading their app.
Dcat
no paper tickets of any kind! If you buy from stubhub they will send you an e-ticket that you scan in using your smart phone. I sold my tickets on the lower sidelines for Atlanta on Stub hub for $45 each and then bought a pair for $6 nose bleeds from them. I got 2 e-tickets and my son and I used my phone to scan in. Because it's pre season we sat in our regular section literally 2 seats away from the ones I sold for $45 each. Only works in the pre season or late in a bad season when there are tons of empty seats in every section, but not for the Jets-Giants game. Kind of weird selling my 3 tix for $45 each and then buying 2 for $6 each and sitting right next to the ones I sold. But hey... it's $; an extra $100 or so in my wallet. The ushers let you into the lower bowl with tickets for the upper deck? Obviously it's preseason but I'm a little surprised they allowed that. No, we wore our lanyards with our Jets reward cards with our regular season ticket section/seats (but we obviously did not use those to scan in because we sold them). This only works in pre season games that are not against the Giants, because there are so many emty seats in all sections
