jetstream23
Per MMQB. https://www.cbssports.com/nfl/news/2018-nfl-draft-cardinals-reportedly-dont-like-baker-mayfield-they-love-him/ Quote Another team reportedly in the quarterback market is the Cardinals. Carson Palmer retired this offseason and the Cards signed a couple stopgap options in Sam Bradford and Mike Glennon, but they don't necessarily have a long-term plan at the position. Well, maybe they do. According to The MMQB's Peter King, the Cardinals have a favorite QB in the class. In King's first and only mock draft, he reported that the Cardinals don't just like Oklahoma's Baker Mayfield ... they love him. The possibility of pairing Mayfield and David Johnson in the backfield over the long-term is an intriguing one, considering Johnson's versatility and Mayfield's ability to throw to all levels of the field and make plays out of nothing when things break down. That would be one of the most athletic backfields in the league whenever Mayfield took over at the position, and a creative offensive coordinator could design an offense that takes full advantage of the players' skill sets. Former Chargers coach Mike McCoy is the man in charge of Arizona's offense under new head coach Steve Wilks (who replaced the retired Bruce Arians); and though there seems to be little similarity, style-wise, between Mayfield and Philip Rivers, maybe McCoy sees something there that he can work with. If they decide to take him than the Cardinals will have no power over that because trading to #2 is just too much for them. If the Jets don’t want the guy..then things will get very interesting. There is a possibility the jets don't even want him it could all be a ploy to force a team like the cardinals to jump us if they want him which would prevent the bills from jumping us for one of the other guys.Sent from my [device_name] using http://JetNation.com mobile app

Can’t wait until Rosen scores his first touchdown and for the celebration he pulls out a Trump doll and puts it on the ground and spikes the football at it. How’s that for electrifying? deucebag
IDK I read these posts and maybe I am nuts, but Sam Darnold is THE man, the ONLY MAN in this draft, his ceiling is Matthew Stafford/Andrew Luck. A perennial all-pro. Baker Mayfield has the potential to be fun and exciting to watch, could be a great 2 minute drill QB, but I see his ceiling as being Dave Krieg/weaker armed Doug Flutie. I could see his act wearing thin and losing support as it will always be somebody else's fault. Rosen to me is brilliant but not intrinsically motivated and not half the leader Darnold or Mayfield can be. I see his ceiling as Eli Manning/weaker armed Jay Cutler. varjet
I have to believe alot of what we are hearing is misinformation designed to get the Jets or other team to select a player, like Mayfield, so that another player, like Rosen, drops to them. The GMs are very much into the Me Too game. Last year's 49ers/Bears trade has GMs convinced that they need to "cash out" picks that can be used for a potential franchise QB. That is why one or more of 2, 4, 5, 6 and/or 7 will be traded for a team such as the Bills, Dolphins and/or Cardinals to take a QB. If you think about it, there have been many NFL teams over the last 3 years that have plugged their QB hole with a QB that could get them into the playoffs. The Bears, Chiefs, Vikings, Rams, Titans, Bucs, Eagles, 49ers, Cowboys, Raiders and Texans have all found and signed QBs. The Bills, Browns, Jets and Cardinals have no one. That is pretty sad. The Bengals, Broncos, Jaguars (maybe) and Dolphins could use upgrades. The Steelers, Patriots and maybe Giants could use someone to develop. The other teams in the Jets group will look to trade up aggressively to get a QB.

varjet
I would have to believe that picks 5, 6 and 7, and maybe 4, may all be used by teams to pick QBs. In the case of pick 5, it could be by the Broncos or trade. The Cardinals will be bidding to pick a QB.

Jetster
Mayfield has traits that make him PERFECT for this new NFL. Super quick release, both from the pocket & more importantly on the move. He makes quick decisions which is imperative with the speed of defenders. How many times did Geno take off, lose his spacial awareness & run out of bounds because he didn't keep his eyes downfield, and be ready to throw? Bates must be beside himself wanting to incorporate some RPO into the WCO. Baker does it wonderfully, has great ball skills already, is quick (not fast), and can draw defenders & get the ball out to a RB from any angle possible. Foles ran RPO vs the Pats in the Super Bowl and he has cement feet compared to Baker. The only way the NY Jets DON'T take Mayfield will be if the Browns take Allen, Giants (Rosen or Barkley), and Darnold falls in Jets lap. Darnold is a BIGGER version of Baker, and has a Favre, Bradshaw look to him. Super competitive, accurate on the run, strong. Gonna be interesting.
