jetstream23
Oh, the ironing! http://www.espn.com/horse-racing/story/_/id/23294742/horse-named-rob-gronkowski-not-run-kentucky-derby Quote The horse named after Patriots star Rob Gronkowski may not run in the Kentucky Derby, according to his trainer. Trainer Jeremy Noseda told RacingPost.com that the horse, named Gronkowski, suffered an unspecified "setback." "We've had a minor setback and we will know where we are in the next 24 hours," Noseda told the website on Monday. The horse, which is partly owned by the Patriots tight end, had been scheduled to fly to Kentucky this upcoming weekend. Gronkowski qualified for the 1¼-mile Kentucky Derby with a win at the Listed Burradon Stakes in Newcastle, England. He has never run more than a mile, nor has he raced on dirt. jetstream23
It's a sad situation. If he's injured they really should just take him out back and shoot him. As for the horse.....give him a few weeks off.
joewilly12
Rob Gronkowski buys stake in horse named after him Apr 18, 2018 ESPN Facebook Twitter Facebook Messenger Pinterest Email print comment Now people can really say Rob Gronkowski is horsing around. The New England Patriots tight end has bought a minority stake in a racehorse that is named after him and will race in the Kentucky Derby. The 3-year-old colt named Gronk will run at Churchill Downs on May 5. Phoenix Thoroughbreds, a global horse racing investment fund, purchased the horse for over $400,000 in England last year. Trainer Jeremy Noseda's family are big Patriots fans, so the horse was named after the player. Terms of the deal with Gronkowski were not revealed. Reached by the Wall Street Journal, Gronkowski said he hopes to meet the horse a few days before the Derby. "I've never dealt with horses," he said. "Hopefully I can get a ride on the horse." Gronkowski admitted that he has a lot to learn about the sport. He's treating the horse as an investment but also a source of fun. "It will be a new experience. Hopefully it will be something I like. I like new hobbies," he said. There has been speculation this offseason that Gronkowski might walk away from football. He hasn't been attending the start of the Patriots' offseason program.
