Watching that Josh Allen video got me mad about the Hack pick all over again.  Are we really allowing the guy who traded UP for Christian Hackenberg make this decision?

Macc didn’t trade up for Hackenberg.

He moved up to the top of the 4th for Petty.

To know that PFF called Hackenberg an "undraftable prospect" and then to know that Macc jumped out the window to draft him only to see the result is hilarious, and it does lend some credibility to their work (PFF).

I remember that the majority of this site was PISSED when we picked Hack. Some folks then got sucked in by that infamous Brett Hollman video that actually had folks believing that we actually got a steal.

Ok so they have Maurice Hurst at 3. This guy has a 27 sparq and a heart condition. They have Jamarco Jones at 32 that POS (1.2 sparq) is just lucky that Orlando Brown is in the draft (4.2 SPARQ, 85th on the PFF list).

I struggle to put any of these in my top 100. the PFF rankings have unique takes but some are just bad ones.

let me also say Calvin Ridley's 7.7 Sparq score grosses me out as does Chukwuma Okorafor's 9.1 but both probably go top 100 on film.  their full list found on reddit

in an odd way the whole hack disaster may wind up leading to us getting a real qb.  b/c if hack hadn't been as much of a bust, let's say he was ok but clearly not a starting qb, then i could see mccagnan taking josh allen and trying it all again.

i think the trade to 3 was basically an admission that he needed to change his philosophy in evaluating qbs, that he didn't want to get stuck with allen or jackson.  the stars seem very aligned that the jets wind up with josh rosen.

I don’t buy the Calvin Ridley hype. I think his brother will be far better when it’s his time to come out of college but as of now I have at least 5 WR’s that I would take over him.

I do agree that the fans will take to Rosen faster than Allen and also agree that Mac/Bowles lack the expertise and the credibility to take Josh Allen and make it work.

even If the Jets board is really 3 QB deep that 3rd QB will be seen a desperation move, whoever it is

If John Elway at 5 takes him it's some sort of genius move. Or if belly trades up for Josh Allen it will be presented very differently than if the Jets take him and sit him for a year and half while Rome burns.

Really no one knows the future or what's going to happen in 48 hours. All of this assumes Baker Mayfield is off the board.

The way this franchise is set up, Josh Allen actually buys Mac time and let's not forget the man makes every decision as a job preserving move.

Josh Allen might eventually get Mac fired but it's a pick all these guys make and live to fight another day. Look at Tanny running Miami after Vernon Gholston. No one gets blackballed for taking the rarest talent it's a mistake they all make and it's what Pro GM's do.

meanwhile Josh Rosen could get Mac fired over Instagram.  Whoever Mac picks he has to trust with his job.

Lauletta will be the surprise and Rudolph will get overdrafted.

Josh Allen is going to get an organization full of people fired.  We'll find out who on Thursday.

I would also argue that I'm not so sure Allen buys him time.  He already has the Hack disaster on him, I'm not sure they're going to give him 3 years just because Allen is a project.

I don't think Josh Allen is an option for the Jets because Macc doesn't have the time to let Allen develop.  I think the Jets will pick one of Darnold, Mayfield and Rosen (and  I wouldn't be surprised if it was in that order).

I agree about the perception folks have based on the GM. The only GM that actually deserves it is Belicheat. He drafted Matt Castle and made him look good in his system. He drafted Jimmy G and if he continues on this pace he may go down as one of the all-time greats. Jimmy G's release is probably the quickest I've ever seen, probably even quicker than Marino.

John Elway is a guy who gets love for being John Elway as well as "Lucking" into Peyton Manning given the Colts sucking for Luck. Elway has not shown that he's some sort of guru when drafting these QB's (Though I've always liked Trevor Siemian from a value standpoint).

If the Broncos were at #3 and Elway picked Allen he'd be looked at like a genius that outsmarted everyone. If Allen fell and Belicheat drafted him he'd be looked at as a genius who once again found great value in late 1st round picks. If the Jets stayed at 6 and drafted Allen they'd be the laughing stock, especially if any of the other top QB's were still available.

The bottomline is, the only GM that could probably get away with it is Belicheat, Elway would be allowed to explain-it-away yet again, and Macc would lose his job.
