JetFanatic
Just killing time here guys before the draft Thursday. Lets say this is the scenario.. Who is everyone's choice here? This one is tough for me because I would love an OLB (Arden Key) to almost solidify this defense and really take them to the next level. Of course that will all rely on if Key plays like he can on a consistent basis. The kid could be a force. There are some solid OT's there still to be had too. Not for nothing but I've done a ton of these mock drafts and there are always still tons of talent left to choose from in the 3rd. Maybe not quite like this but there are typically a few guys who slip to the 3rd. Orlando Brown is also available he's not shown in this shot. OT wouldn't be a bad play here in the case where Beachum goes down or Shell doesn't progress. TE is also a need still especially with Gesicki still there. Again although unlikely with him, who knows, maybe a solid TE might slip into the 3rd round and give our rookie QB another weapon. I would pray that a Center fall to us in the 3rd because that'll be my pick without even thinking about it. In this scenario I go with Jones though. Greenseed4
Restart. Your big board is stupid. (There’s no way DJ Moore is there in the 3rd)
Grandy
I'm big on Gesicki, or DJ Moore (even though we have a ton of wideouts)
The Crimson King
Have to take Key there That Fanspeak thing is addicting isn't it?

jetstream23
Gesicki for me. A TE like that would be a great asset for our new QB.

LAD_Brooklyn
Gesicki is the pick, although I doubt he'll be there. Jones from OSU would be a good gamble.

There were speculations that only 1 WR may go in the 1st round so I don't think it's impossible that Moore is there at the top of the 3rd.

I think a WR unit of Anderson, Enunwa, Kearse, Pryor, Hansen, Stewart is more than good enough for a rookie QB to come in and be successful. The talent is there. Add in Leggett who I think will be a solid contributor and will become a safety net for our young QB. Passing Gesicki would be extremely tough though. I'm just big on getting the Oline to be the strongest unit on our team I think it's that important.

And I find myself doing more as the draft gets closer. What I'm noticing though is that in the 3rd round the pool of talent is still there. There are still plenty of guys to draft that can come in and have an immediate impact. There are always solid OT's and OLB's there which I'm excited about. Try First-pick.com it's another mock draft site that's pretty cool. It allows trades and stuff.

I use Mike Miller's draft board and it's not awful. Yeah if you look at the talent pool as far as who is available still in the 3rd round it may seem unrealistic but if you look at the players picked prior then it's not that bad. There's a lot of talented players in this draft class.

I'm not convinced that Long is going to stay healthy at all. It seems like he's injury prone. If he goes down then Swanson is our starting Center. That's a problem. I'm praying that one of Ragnow, Price or Daniels is there in the 3rd. Highly highly unlikely that Price is there even with his injury. Daniels will probably be a first rounder. Ragnow could go in the 1st or 2nd round but I wouldn't be shocked if he's there in the 3rd. I'd even settle for Mason Cole. We just need a starter type backup Center. I'm all about Arden Key though. It would be a difficult choice for me in which I wouldn't be mad if Key were the pick. He could solidify our defense and make us really really scary.
