Edit: Sorry not per Rapaport, the bleacher report update on my phone said that it was down to Allen or Mayfield and put Rapaport in parentheses, indicating he was the source, but he is not  http://bleacherreport.com/articles/2772463-2018-nfl-draft-rumors-browns-deciding-between-baker-mayfield-josh-allen

2018 NFL Draft Rumors: Browns Deciding Between Baker Mayfield, Josh Allen

The Cleveland Browns are reportedly deciding between two quarterbacks, the Oklahoma Sooners' Baker Mayfield or Wyoming Cowboys' Josh Allen, with the No. 1 overall pick in the 2018 NFL draft.

On Wednesday, Mary Kay Cabot of Cleveland.com reported the Browns have "cooled" on the USC Trojans' Sam Darnold ahead of Thursday's first round at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas.

One source expressed extreme confidence to Cabot that Cleveland will select Allen.

"You can take it to the bank," the top-level NFL personnel executive said.

Meanwhile, Mayfield made it clear during the NFL Scouting Combine last month that he wants to be the quarterback who finally turns things around in Cleveland.

"First things first, they'd get a winner," he told reporters. "If there's anyone who would turn that franchise around, it'd be me. They're close. They're very close. They've got the right pieces. I think they just need that one guy at quarterback."

TF is wrong with these dipsh*t reporters? Will any of them ever own up to their own ******* words if these two aren’t selected anywhere close to first overall? Allen? Wild horse. Maybe. Mayfield? I don’t even have him in the top 10.

I find this story implausable for the simple fact that they absolutely, positively should have their board locked up already.  There is no way you can go into this siutation, with all of this time, unsure a day before the draft.

Making this decision under pressure would be criminaly negligent.

Over/under on how many times we get treated to this droll observation in the next 30 hours GO

Should be alot all things considered.

Better than jumping/getting hysterical over the 1,294,784 different "reports" we've gotton so far, and will get before tomorrow night.

Hey, this just in, according to my left testicle, the Browns are leaning hard to draftign Saquan Barkley at #1 overall, fearign the Giants will take him at #2.  My ball has a true inside source on this.  Proceed to hysterical!

Honestly I'm less worries about the Browns picking "our guy" than I am the Giants trading down and giving "our guy" to the Dolphins or Bills.  Maximum Jetsy.

See you joke but you guys totally do this.

Yes. Because during the draft we are either crying, dumbfounded or throwing shit at the TV. I can't speak for everyone but I wasn't really feeling like celebrating when we drafted Jamaal Adams last year. I was sitting there with a deadpan stare hoping Allen Funt would jump around the corner and tell me I was on Candid Camera.

I think they manage to not screw it up if they get to say they couldn't believe Darnold was there.

Darnold at 3 would be amazing. The USC thing would still scare the hell out of me but I will get over it.

This is a thing of beauty of true, things couldn't go this well for the Jets.

I still say Darnold goes #1 and all this other stuff is smoke.

Agreed. Nice to dream though.

praying for the browns to be the "browns"-it looked like they were not the same old browns by getting taylor hyde and landry but maybe they are destined to be bad-please take Baker Browns PLEASE-take another heisman qb in the Johnny football tradtion and save the Jets from being the "Jets" and drafting the wrong qb yet again

For me, the perfect draft is simple.  Rosen at #3.  The Browns don't seem to be of a mind to draft him at all, so it really is just about the Giants.  If Darnold being there at #2 gets the Giants to draft him, great, go for it.  The sooner those guys all go, the more likely they don't end up in the AFC East.

So for my money, I would hope for Allen/Mayfield at 1.  Darnold at 2.  Rosen at 3.  Allen/Mayfield at 5 to DEN.  Then it's all over but the crying in BUF and MIA.  Yes, Lamar Jackson might end up somewhere close, but it's still my best-case scenario.

Side-note:  If it plays out this way, Macc will look really friggin' smart for having traded up to 3, won't he? ;)
