So the Argument is: Rosen Plus our 2nders or Darnold?

In the hindsight is 20/20 department, this will be interesting to observe.    I guess we won't know for a few years but Darnold needs to be considerably better than Rosen for us to have truly made the right move.   So much for the "4 quarterbacks taken in the first 5 picks" mantra....    To that end, I am pulling like crazy for Sam to eventually eclipse Joe Namath and become the standard all future Jets quarterbacks are compared to, lol.   Lets Go Jets!!

Early returns will heavily favor Rosen, he's more pro ready and will be tossing it to what's left of Fitz. By this time next year it will look like we made a huge mistake. Darnold needs to cook longer

T0mShane will be in his glory

If you want hypothetically I guess we could have traded down to 10 for Rosen.

Now we'll see what happens.

You cannot say that Darnold was not worthy of the 3rd pick.

I'd be happy with that trade.  I really like Rosen but there would ALWAYS be the threat of injury hanging over our heads like a black cloud. We'd go 11-5 and he'd get injured week 17.  And instead of going on an Eagles-like run, we'd get eliminated in the 1st round of the playoffs.

Rosen May be better qb for 3 years while jets still suck and rebuilding.. He may get his 3rd and 4th concussion in that time and will then of course retire. Darnold is the guy who doesn’t have post football dreams already. I want a qb Who lives and breathes football. That was only mayfield and darnold. Rosen May decide to play tennis, or retire to work for another hillary Clinton campaign

If Darnold is a hit, no one will ever care, regardless of what else happens.  If he fails, it wouldn't matter where the Jets picked.

They obviously got who they felt was the better of the two. All that matters is whether they turn out to be right about that, no matter what it cost.

Not necessarily.

How do we know that Denver didn't love Rosen? How do we know that Arizona wouldn't have traded up to #3 instead? Lots of unknowns.

Absolutely.  Just fun to kind of speculate, now that we see how the draft unfolded.  I mean I don't think any one had both Rosen and Allen getting past Denver.

Fallacy of the predetermined outcome.

Jets stay at 6 and maybe the Colts make another deal, maybe the Browns deal #4, maybe the Giants move out, maybe Denver picks a different guy and the board falls in a totally different manner.

This is not a serious argument. Too many variables.

True.

It will be fun to compare them for years to come.

I don't think this is a fare to say this. It was our 2nd rounders to guarantee that we got a top 3 QB; In hindsight, I don't even think you can say it would have panned out the way we wanted. Likely during the draft, colts and/or Browns could have traded out and we could have lost out of top 3. I will miss our 2nd rounders, but it was a smart move and we got hopefully a great prospect.

lol... If the jets are planning another 3 years of rebuilding then none of this sh*t matters.

Just to be fair - we suck at 2nd round picks, haven’t hit one in ages - jury still out on Maye, but even if he’s the first second rounder we hit on since David Harris - no problem trading picks we were bound to screw up anyways - Go Sammy Go!!!

Yeah are we talking Rosen + 2x 2nd round picks or 2x Mike Macagnan 2nd round picks?

We still have like $65 million in cap room sign some camp cuts plus guys like Dez Bryant and Marcedes Lewis are still available

Exactly.  Who knows what Indy does with the 3 pick?  They probably trade it to the bills and they take Darnold and he sh-ts on us next 10 years

No one knew Rosen would fall.  Or if he would have fallen if we stayed at #6.

Darnold was generally the "Sorta consensus" best QB.  We got him at #3.

I was very much against the trade of those #2 picks, so I get the question.

But done is done, Darnold is the guy.

Only ******* idiot ass Jets fans.  We got a QB that was widely regarded as the best in the draft but somehow we may have screwed up.

But we need those second round picks to draft more Devin Smiths and Hackenbergs.
