Looking ahead, if Josh Sweat is available in rd 3, would you want him?

Josh Sweat:

6'5 251, 4.53 - 40,  39.5 vert, 4.28 short shuttle

12.5 sacks and 23.5 tfl's last two seasons

* number 1 rated player out of high school 3 yrs ago. Tore acl just before arriving at fsu. Slow to regain form but may finally be back to the freak athlete he was pre-injury.

As an interesting comparison...

Bradley Chubb:

6'4 269, 4.65 - 40, 36 vert, 4.41 short shuttle

19.5 sacks and 48 tfl's last two seasons

If Josh Sweat is available, would you want  theJets to draft him? No character concerns, fyi.

I'm meh on Sweat. He's very athletic and the numbers he tested show that. But when I watched FSU games, he never looked all that impressive. Then you add in his medical history and you have more causes for concern.

I'd rather take a chance on Arden Key if he's still available

The Jets should concentrate on nothing but DL and OLB the rest of the draft. Maybe take a shot at that crazy WR from Florida too.

Damn skippy

Local dude (for me) from Chesapeake, VA who I’ve seen play in person multiple times when he was at Oscar Smith.

A freak athlete

He’s pretty much the one EDGE guy who could realistically be around at #72 who I think possesses double digit sack potential if he pans out.

His motor runs hot and cold and you can clearly see him go through the motions here and there, but I think a guy like Kevin Greene could get the most out of him.

I would’ve said that Ragnow was my top choice in the 3rd but he’s already gone. Easily the biggest surprise of the draft for me so far.

do a little more research

Um no, that article had it right but thx for the offer to do more research, lol.

He was the consensus #1 player in the country on just about every ranking service's board before horrifically blowing out his knee his senior season. With a potentially career ending injury, most services (rightfully) dropped him in their rankings. And just to show you I'm a nice guy, I did your "research" for you.

Starting his senior year as the top-rated prospect in the country by ESPN,[3] Sweat registered 25 tackles, 11 tackles for loss, and eight sacks in the first two games of the season. During the third game of the season, against Western Branch High School, Sweat suffered a season-ending injury as he dislocated his knee and tore his ACL.[4] He underwent reconstructive surgery in New York performed by New York Giants team physician Russell Warren, before graduating from Oscar Smith in December 2014 to enroll early in college.

Initially being regarded the top prospect of his class, Sweat fell in the rankings after his injury. He dropped to No. 11 in ESPN's final ranking of the class of 2015

Byron cowart was the number 1 recruit that year

rivals is recognized as the top recruiting service

think sweat was in the 40’s

espn had him 10 or something

and scout had him 5

Did you read my previous post? They basically all had him #1 until his injury. The rankings you are listing are post-injury.

And not a big deal but just as an fyi...247 is by far considered the industry standard these days because they use composite rankings of all the major services. And yes, the article linked above from cbs sports was a 247 ranking.
