I know you two have to be sh*tting your pants right now. Lupz I know you wanted either Rosen or Darnold with this trade up and you got exactly what you wanted. I’m excited too.

Beerfish I know you were a huge Darnold fan this whole time. This has to feel good for you too.

How do you guys feel about the trade up now? What are your expectations for Darnold if he starts this year?

Again, This is awesome. J-E-T-S!!

It’s honestly tough to comprehend the Jets actually got Darnold, I’m still on cloud 9!  Darnold will start when he is ready, or when Bowles gets fired lol.  Kid is 20 years old, he will sign 3 contracts as a NY Jet minimum in his lifetime, and after all 3 contracts are over he still will only be 30ish years old so hopefully a 4th, and a 5th contract follows because he earned it.

Do you think he can eliminate turnovers and be an absolute franchise beast? They said he was a little slow on the white board.

totally not scrutinizinghim btw. Asking for my own peace of mind because I definitely feel good about the pick and I need some convincing because I want to feel even better. We passed on my guy Rosen. Totally not bitter, just want to firmly believe we got the best choice out of the two!

Kid has the “IT” factor.  Will never have to worry about him not putting in the work/doing the right thing.  Ridiculously Competitive, maybe more then Mayfield, but doesn’t boast about it.  Kid is 20 years old, has only been a QB for 4 years used to play LB, so can understand the concern about the white board concern, but also he is also only 20 years old, and only been playing QB for 4 years he is smart enough to with time to become a white board wizard, and like most young inexperienced QB’s who play you design your O around their strengths, and around their weaknesses to give them the best chance to succeed.  Testify the Jets just got their savior!

As much as people laugh about Josh McCown, I think McCown winds up really helping Sam out along the way and it ultimately being the best thing for Sam.

I just cancelled your Mahomes jersey order. Glad your sticking around.

Time for a new avatar my friend.?

Ha. Yeah. Not gonna lie. But after the Darnold selection I was saying I was happy but after a few picks went by all I could see was Aaron Rogers situation with Rosen unfolding and I totally had buyers remorse. But I am on board and will update my avatar soon.  Let’s go Sam, beat out that old ass loser McCown in camp!!!

No dude I totally feel where you are coming from. That’s the point of this thread..I sorta needed a slap in the face from some Sam Darnold enthusiasts. I wanted a reason to really really be excited. I’m already happy but I wanted more.

I think I got that for the most part. If Darnold can outperform all of them in a year or two, i’ll forget all about the Rosen slide.

I liked Rosen a lot too and I honestly think he's going to be very good.

But people not being excited about Darnold is crazy to me. I know some people fell in love with Rosen/Mayfield/Allen, but Darnold is obviously a promising prospect. Doesn't mean he'll work out, but there is obviously a chance it does.

Lemme hear a little bit from you on Darnold. Why do you think he’s the best prospect?

Feed me some positivity man?

Best combination of physical tools/temperament (has that laid back Eli feel)/character (teammates love him)/durablity in the draft.

Big, strong, excellent arm, excellent statistics against the blitz (this is a big one, for me), tons of awesome clutch performances, excellent corroborating statistics in the clutch.

He's also only 20 and got a lot of sh*t done in only a couple of years in college.

If I could add a bit more, I think I'd put it like this:

If Rosen had no history of concussions, I'd probably prefer Rosen on the field. But given the durability concerns, I think we landed the guy I would have picked number 1 overall.

Also, I'd be virtually just as excited if we had taken Rosen.

I didn't really zone in on Darnold because, like many others, I thought he'd be off the board.  So my preference was for Rosen, but I am totally fine with this pick.  I think we may have gotten the best QB in this draft, and maybe last draft as well.  Time will tell.

Good points, thank you. I do feel really good about Darnold. He is clutch and he certainly has good field vision for a guy who hasn’t been a QB his entire life. Can move outside the pocket well and I think we all know about his bat sh*t crazy pocket movement.

He manipulates the pocket so well. What do you say to guys who question his longer wind up and his QB IQ?

Mechanics is something I haven’t looked into much with Darnold because I never thought he would drop. Rosen was the guy I invested all my studying into. Are his mechanics solid?

I think the long windup thing is overrated. I mean, how is it really hurting him? Is he not getting rid of the ball fast enough? IDK, let's see:

106.1 QBR against pressure in 2016

103.9 QBR against the blitz in 2017

So, I don't see how it's really hurting him. Am I missing something here?

QB IQ is hard to define for such a young guy, but IDK, his numbers under pressure suggest he can think and react quickly when he has to. He takes too many chances, but he also threw a ton of deep passes at USC and his offensive line was not good in his second year.

I really like the guy has a person first and foremost. He’s really humble and down to earth. Just a real person and not make up powered and coached for the PR next line.

He’s really just a cool ass dude..a talented one at that. I like who we got.

YOu said it brother....he’s 20! He could be our FQB for 15-20 years. He’s this good at 20? What’s he going to be like at 27/28?
