Did the browns blow this?

I really liked Baker Mayfield, but my guess is IF the Jets had the 1 & 4 picks and came out of this draft with Mayfield & James, Jet fans would be jumping off bridges.

You have to believe that Mayfield is IN FACT the next coming of Drew Brees or Russell Wilson to make this a great draft for the Browns. None of us know the future but history tells us that the odds are not good that Baker comes close to Drew Brees career.

I don’t think so. Not the popular choices. But still good picks. All depends on Mayfield of course.

But Ward compliments the defense. Allowing Garret and others more time to get to the passer.

If they went Allen, then yes.

I had the same thought this morning ... if I was a Browns fan, I'd be having to convince myself my team didn't blow it.

You can argue the toss about which QB they picked, I guess, but Ward at 4 when Chubb was still there? Couldn't they find anyone to trade down with?

Schrager said the exact same thing. The Mayfield pick is subjective, but Ward over Chubb is a meh choice

I think it was either Schefter or Rappaport said after Bills traded up to 7 to get Allen that they had this trade done with Denver that afternoon, but when Chubb was still there, Denver said no.

Smart move by Denver.

I don't like the fact we're playing the Broncos this year. Miller+Chubb+Ray, we might be seeing Bridgewater after McCown gets anililated.

Any chance Denver look to move Ray now that they have Chubb?

They had 2 of the top 4 picks. Didn't trade out, and somehow came away without Darnold, Barkley, Chubb or Nelson. Confusing.

Only time will tell but I wouldn't be happy if I were a Browns' fan.

I really wanted Baker but that was because I 100% believe Darnold was going 1 or 2. I really hope Baker plays well because I honk that is really good for the NFL but man I don’t know if I’d be overly thrilled as a Browns fan. I think Ward is a fine pick, I thought it would have been Minkah but that’s splitting hairs. I’d still be happy as a Browns fan it just feels like a cautiously optimistic feeling.

I wanted Mayfield as well. I simply didn't think Darnold would get to the Jets. So I think the Browns did well with Mayfield but completely blew it on the second pick. Chubb should have been the guy and by a large margin. The Browns could have gotten the guy they took later and added more picks. They should have drafted Chubb.

I think they blew it personally.  I know the hype for Baker around here was huge but I just don't see him being a great QB.  You have to be a really special QB to be Russell WIlson or Drew Brees and I'm definitely not sold that Baker is that guy.  I'm fine with the Ward pick but to choose Baker when you had Darnold and Rosen sitting there is ridiculous.

I think this thread should be Did the Bills blow this.  They had Rosen gifted to them at 7 and chose Josh Allen.

I was in a bar full of Browns fans last night, thanked the couple who were cheering for Darnold at #1, after the Jets picked him at #3 :) had to buy them a beer, they were not happy - did not see anyone really happy about Baker

Ward was appreciated (Buckeye land) and CB was a need so they liked that pick

The fans hate the Allen pick out here  (65%) but I think the Bills had a great draft. Moved up to get the QB they wanted plus kept their other 1st rounder as well.

Mayfield pick is debatable but you can't pass on Chubb at 4.

Yup. If you've got a good pass rush and pressure the QB you've helped everyone in the secondary.

Still can't believe they passed on Darnold. And Allen going before Rosen? Crazy nite.

Browns must like short QBs as Taylor is the same build as Mayfield.

As for the 4th pick they nailed it. Ward is a stud cover CB that can guard those quick and small WRs like Antonio Brown who'll they have to play against twice per season.

Chubb is more so a Chris Long type DE. A guy that's exceptional vs the run and above average rushing the passer. Great player but nothing you should go crazy about passing on.

They should sign Manziel and have the tiny qb trilogy
