NCAA | Bush far from a decision on the draft

Tue, 10 Jan 2006 16:50:17 -0800

NBC Sports.com reports Southern California RB Reggie Bush told the Los Angeles Times that he is "far" from making his decision on whether to return for his senior year at Southern California or enter the 2006 NFL Draft. Bush met with USC head coach Pete Carroll and agent David Dunn for about one hour on campus Monday, Jan. 9, the Times said. "I'm still trying to figure everything out and put everything in perspective before I make my decision," Bush said after the meeting.

Just for the fun of it.. What would happen if he didn't enter?

From what I hear Casserly(Texans GM) is going to sink or swim with Carr so I doubt they pick a QB..

I think they certainly trade down.. VY, and ML could be up for grabs?

I still think Bush will declare though.. Although he seems to like the college life..

I believe that his hesitation may have to do with the fact that the Texans will not take him number one. No way Kubiak wants a RB that high or Dan Reeves. Both believe in getting RB's later in round one if not later in the draft. D Brick or a trade down is what is likely for Houston, imo.

If he doesn't declare, then he is one of the dumbest creatures on the planet. Going back to USC for a year would be like being franchised by a team for one year for no money. How does a human being with a singular skill of running with a football pass up on a minimum $30 million to do so? To say nothing of the fact that his rookie contract will be up when he's one year younger. Unlike almost all other positions, RB needs to be YOUNG to make the most out of that second mega-contract.

I heard some people on the radio suggest that a player who "knows" he's NFL elite status (the heisman doesn't prove that) might take a rest the senior year.

Then he doesnt' get sucked into a bad team with the #1 pick. Might cost him 2 or 3 million out of a 40million career, but a better chance to be on a team that goes places.
